AFC EAST: 1. Bills-5-2 1. Patriots-5-2 3. Jets-4-3 4. Dolphins-3-4 Showdown in Buffalo next week for the Jets. They are due for a good game right? Pennington and the Dolphins beat the Bills today 25-16 to drop Buffalo to 5-2. So after a TERRIBLE and I mean TERRIBLE performance by the Jets, they find themselves one game out of first playing one of the teams at the top next week. Gotta find a way to pull it out.
One thing you can say is that Favre certainly makes it more interesting than Pennington. I mean, every week he's either going to be the greatest QB that ever lived or the worst investment the Jets ever made. Sure does breed some excitement.
There are few things that people who have not watched favre for the past 16 years are starting to understand: 1. Favre, going into every game, gives you the opportunity to beat anyone on any given sunday. That goes along with the "he is either on fire, or garbage" type mentaltiy, even though more often then not he just has solid average games. Fact remains, Favre expects to be able to beat every team he faces, and that instlls confidence in the locker room. 2. Favre is going to give you your full entertainment value for your ticket admission. Either by giving you a performance of a lifetime, making plays that most can't, or by pulling out a risky game winning TD pass after 3 prior risky plays in the game failed. That takes balls, and that is what people come to see. 3. Favre more often then not is walking off the field with a W. He has won more game sthen any QB in history, a nd only has one losing season. The man just wins. Sometiems ugly, but he gets it done. The jets are starting to learn that.
bravo! I wanted to just leave it at that but the board requires a minimum of 10 characters somewhat taking away from how brilliant that last post was.
I have learned that he has played like crap 3 weeks in a row against 3 of the worst teams in the league. I have learned dread is starting to replace confidence in him. I have learned that its starting to appear like we delayed our QB development a whole season for the kind of excitment I could live without. I hope next week I learn I am wrong.
Same here. And to people who think this is merely the 'same old' Favre, it is - from 2005 and 2006. Last year McCarthy put a tighter leash on Favre and he had a great year. Even in his salad days, Holmgren kept him in line as much as was prudent. But for whatever reason (probably trying to justify the hype and in a gross overreaction to the Week 2 nonsense on the goalline), Mangini's let Favre be completely unchained and the results have been getting worse and worse.
It was always said that it would take 6-7 weeks for Favre to learn the offense once the season began. I guess you could argue that we're now at the end of the learing period. The schedule has been kind to us, meaning we're in the running despite Favre being a bit iffy of late. A win next week and the whole Jets world and outlook will seem a lot brighter
So far he's had 1 great week and that's it- can we balance it out a bit? We've had way too many "worst investment the Jets ever made" performances.
