Plus he's starting to hit that age where his body fully matures and he fills out. He's still young enough to improve physically.

  2. So you're indicating that taking Brick at # 4 was a reach?? Is that what you're getting at? B/c I can tell you that Brick was actually # 2 on alot of people's draft boards at that draft. You either convieniently forget b/c you WANT jet players to be busts..or just don't have enough football knowledge to realize that upside/potential plays a BIG part in the scouting/draft process. You don't draft a player based solely on what they are "now". If you did you'd have a whole team of Erik Colemans, Nick Kaczurs and Enrique Wilsons.

You draft based on their long term projections. Ferguson had and still has the frame, quick feet, and intangibles to be an elite pass protector. What he needed to do was refine his technique, add some muscle and add some baby fat. He's done all of that and his progress speaks for itself.

Really? how did you get into these draft rooms, or are you just going by what alot of ESPN so called experts said?? As for "up side and potential" if you think that that's the first thing teams are looking for in the top 5 picks of the draft then you don't know what your talking about. Sorry but teams are looking for game changers in the top 10 much less top 5, players that impact now, not "he could be great in 3 years". You either convieniently forgot that because you want all Jets picks not to be busts or you don't have enough football knowledge to understand that teams that draft well focuss on "up-side and potential" in the later rounds, because they know better than to pick developmental or project players with a top five pick. Odd enough these are also the teams that most often don't pick in the top five because the few times they do, they don't waste their picks on players that "may be good in 3 years?

It was answerd in another thread I'm sure you can find it.

  8. Actually at the time I was part of a well known nfl draft web site where i was PERSONALLY responsible for evaluating OL talent. I wrote a scouting review on Brick as well as all the other linemen in that draft.

Again..if you wanna draft solely on "immediate value" you'll have a whole team of Nick Kaczurs. Maybe that's what you want.

Braylon Edwards, Mario Williams,Phillip Rivers, ELI MANNING, Gaines Adams, RICHARD SEYMOUR, and Ronnie Brown are all players who were selected top 10 who had mixed success to start their career..many worse than Brick. I'd consider all of them at least on the CUSP of elite status in present time. But according to your theory...theyd all be considered busts and worthy of being cut after year 1.
