Mario Williams is meeting with the Jets and Mangini today. Mangini is a Defense minded coach and he is going to go all out for this guy with the #4 pick. Williams is going to come out of this thing as Manginis favorite p in the draft and the Jets will draft him, I dont know if its the best idea but whoever we get at 4 is going to be an unbelievable p , whether its Leinart, D'Brick, Hawk or Williams, they will make our team much better

...But we need to find a way to get DeAngelo Williams please!!! I think he has the stuff to turn out as good as Bush if not better in the pros!!!

    p?

am all for this but am still worried that the saints will draft this guy at the #2 spot. Am holding out hope that they will take D'brick at #2 and mario can fall to us at #4

Just because we meet with him dosent mean anything. Were also meeting with Leinart, Young, and Cutler...by your logic that means we're drafting all 4 players...

While Mario Williams is far from a lock at #4, I do believe it's a very good possibility...

    1) bush
    2) d'brick
    3) leinart

i just hope that this happens...Williams is a beast and instantly makes our defense THAT much better.

I understand we're meeting with a lot of p s but Mangini already loves this guy and if he impresses them then he has an easy in. Mangini talks so high about this guy. Plus it isnt a secret that Mangini wants to go defense first round. So just because they're meeting with him doesnt mean they are going to draft him, I know that 1028 im just saying that this could make him the frontrunner

I don't see the logic in Tangini wanting to go defense with the 4th pick...I mean I understand if Mario is there and Brick and Leinart are gone you have to take him, but since all we have done this offseason is add to the defense, wouldn't it make sense to add a stud to the offense?

I don't know about that. I haven't really heard Mangini or any member of the FO talking to any member of the press about anyone or anything. So I don't know where you get that from.

The Jets have talked to all 3 QBs, and spent much of the senior bowl and combine (from the reports I have read) looking at Brick. They are doing a very good job at keeping what they are actually planning under wraps and everyone guessing. Which is the way I like it. You might be jumping the gun here a little.

They will later on. The board is filled with all types of offensive talent at most postions right thru rd 3. I dont think there is a big difference between Ferguson and Justcie and McNeil. Plus if they sign a tackle this week and thats looking good there is no urgency to take a o tackle until the3rd or 4th rd. This draft for the Jets will shape out great if they sign some linemen this week.

Well said. Nobody knows who is ranked where on draft boards. As for teams bringing in guys for interviews, thats nice and all it gives you another look at a player, but I can't believe that it gives a clue to who the team is going to draft. My case for this is when DeAngelo Hall was on NFl network at the combine and they were asking him if they had any idea that the Falcons were going to draft him with the 9th pick and he said that was the LAST team he ever expected. They didn't even go to his pro day. Talk about not tipping your hand. I love the fact that everything is so secret, it should be that way.

Once again just assumptions and not logical. They signed Kimo, so by your logic there would be no need to draft Williams or a DE until the 3rd or 4th rd. All of the Linemen they are looking at are older vets, to help teach the younger players and add much needed depth. It does not change anything. Even if I agreed with you, which I don't, about there not being much difference in Brick, Justice, or McNeil, what about a Center? Or a long term answer at RT? Or the future successor to Kendall? There is ALOT of urgency to take Linemen early.

Just be careful not to jump the gun people, and read too much into what is going on right now.

Yikes....giving the rookies at GG a hard time is seems.....

Not exactly a bold prediction by any means, our FO keeps this information on LOCK so your best guess is as good as mine, but you are def'n getting ahead of yourself saying he's a jets because he visited with our coach....that means absolutely nothing.....

Who on the Jets defense scares you? Who would you have to game plan around? Nobody. I hope they get Mario, if they don't, I'd like to see them trade down with Oakland and take Ngota. That defensive line is vanilla and that means the Jet defense is a rumor right now.

I saw a mock draft today by a Saints writer that has NO taking Ferguson and Williams going 6th. But the thing that bugged me was that he had Ngota going at #8 to Buffalo. Just remembering our battles with Ted Washington, and I hate to see our division rival getting a big moose like that.

You mean, you didn't like having a press conference a few days before the draft when we got our HC, GM and chief scout to talk about all the prospects and take questions from the media. That really seemed like a good way to keep our intentions quiet.

I think they are prepared to give Missant and Katnick a shot at center if they cant sign Teague. They will get a rt tackle vet and draft one on day 2. But its very clear they are trying to get the d going to keep games close and will deal with the offense between this year and next.

How is that very clear? Did I miss a press conference in which Mangini stated he wanted to go defense? Because from what I see we're bringing in all potential picks, and a majority of them are on the offensive side of the ball. Plus we have another 1st round pick which could be used for a defensive player. And in addition most of the free agents we've signed have been defensive guys, which would lead me to believe they're more inclined to go offense in the draft, at least early on.

isn't our O-Line in worse shape than our DE situation, wouldn't he be a luxury pick for us at #4?

where do you gather that information - that the Jets are going Mario? Nothing I see or read tips the Jets' hand one way or another. They are playing this smart - close to the vest.

You could make the same case for Leinart based on the "meeting," or for Young.

The truth is, none of us has any idea what the new Jet FO is thinking here. That's a good thing!
