Just curious, does anyone know if any offers were made for the guy? I really thought he could take us over the hump of Tenn., Buffalo and NE. Thanks
It wasn't a move for us to make.....not for the salary that comes with him....and he's another guy who's going to want the ball....the last thing we need is receivers complaining.... I don;t think Tony would have helped the running game significantly, and that's where we need to establish ourselves as a real threat to get this offense going into high gear for the rest of the season.
I'd heard the Cheifs were looking for even higher, a potential 1st. No one was going to give that price up. Cheifs cost themselves picks for a player who won't be back.
Tony Gonzalez Tight End 1/12/2006: Signed a five-year, $35 million contract. The deal includes $17.75 million in guarantees. 2008: $1 million, 2009: $4 million, 2010: $4.5 million, 2011: $5.75 million, 2012: Free Agent Fairly resonable pricing.
If I read that right, we get him for 700K to finish the season and 4 mil. next year if we want to keep him. Cheap for a player like that.
