Everytime the Jets just hand off to Jones and run up the gut they get six, seven yard. But instead of sticking with that until the Bengals stop it, they're doing all this pump fake/delay handoff, end arounds, sweeps, etc. Why is Schotty trying to be so damn cute? This is one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. Smack someone in the mouth and stop the CRAP already!
I love when fans tell coaches that "all they have to do is...." It's hilarious. I'm hoping Schott starts calling some completitions and 4-5+ yard gains on runs. The bastard is fucking with us right now...calling incompletions and TFLs...POS.
we are letting them back into this game by doing all this little cutesy crap. we could be winning by alot more.
Uhmmm, idiot, that's the whole point of a fan site. You critique play calling. If we didn't do that then what would we do? Tell me what cute running plays have been effective versus the between tackle straight runs like the one Jones scored on from 7 yards out? But I don't want to question the experts, you're right. I assume you were never critical of Herm Edwards play calling, he's got a lot more coaching experience than you after all....
This coach staff doesn't realize their strengths. Be it the stupid draws, the stupid screens or the stupid trick plays. The team is actually good enough and better off at just imposing their strengths on teams, but it seems to me they would rather run quite stuff to show how smart they are...........
If your to run the ball up every time, dont you think the defense will be expecting that and learn to try and stop that? You have to switch it up a bit here and there, so you arent predictable. Teams have been running on the outside all year long on the Cincy D and its worked amazingly since Bengal D have troubles with the tackling. Cant fault the outside running there.
cute no doubt but he is calling a poor game todate. Why so many weak passes going knowhere? We let them back into the game near the end of the half. Why? A scrub QB and no run game and our DEFENSE goes chicken little! Mangini should have challanged that first down but he was asleep at the wheel!
I heard fans like their teams. We could attempt that? Yea...or it could be that execution probably matters a little more than the playcall. The difference between good playcalling and bad playcalling is the result of the play. I don't know why thats so hard for people to wrap their minds around sometimes. Seriously...only a Jets fan board could find shit to complain about during a game they're winning...do you guys expect blowouts everytime we play? Get out of fuckin Madden world for a second. And the hilarious thing is that we "almost" let them come back...yet almost didn't count when it was time to be negative about last years Jets' close games. It's just fucking weird how fans seem to resent this team...and then they turn and complain when the media isn't super nice to us. Edit: Another TD Jets. That fucking dumb fuck Schott. Getting cute as usual.
I happen to really like the "cute" running plays. They play to the Jets' strengths, which is having a handful of really speedy guys (Leon, Brad Smith, Stuckey) who can do damage on those reverses. Those plays were effective all day today and I'd like to see more of them. Now, if you want to complain about the WR screen, I'm listening. But the reality today was that the game plan was keeping it close to the vest on offense and winning the game on D. And it worked.
The goal of all the trickery w/ the reverses, quick outs, screens and pump fake/runs...was to try to force the secondary to move closer to the line for throws over the top and to make the linebackers to hesitate in their reads. Unfortunately Lewis' defense was very stubborn and refused to cheat up. Give the Bengals D credit.
With Favre as the QB...It's important to keep opposing D's off balance on Sundays and sometimes on Mondays...And thats what this Jets Offense has been doing. I cant complain.
the CS staff thought that the bengals couldnt score. They couldnt on O and they were not going to let them on D. Very good game plan and execution. Next.
