This might be apparent to most of you, but I just wanted to point out an interesting observation about Revis' stats. Last season, Revis was the second leading tackler on the Jets defense behind David Harris with 74 solo tackles. This year he has 11 solo tackles so far, on pace for a significantly lower total.

These stats tell us two things. First, that Revis, when allowing a catch last season, did a damn good job wrapping up his man and bringing him down last year. And second, that in response to that fact, defensive coordinators are STAYING THE HELL AWAY from Darrelle Revis this year.

In that respect, Revis deserves a little credit in the offensive lineman "He's good cause you never hear his name called" respect. Couple that with the fact that he's matched his career high for picks in only a quarter season and it's just another great thing to add to my list of Why I Love Darelle Revis.

The comforting thing about this observation? Dwight Lowery is third on our team this year with 18 solo tackles.:jets:

having him on one side of the field should most days take a teams best receiving weapon away from them, or at very least limit that receiver. now if they can figure out how to get the rest of the secondary to at least be decent on the other receivers and we have a very good defense.

good stats though. with the exception of the cardinals game i dont think i have seen the ball thrown in his direction very much at all this year. he is becoming as close to a shut down corner as there can be nowadays.

Revis is turning into a top 5 corner in the league those stats proove it. That hes not letting his man catch the ball. Very valuable player the jets have.

    Dear Mrs. Revis,

Please make sure your son has plenty of bathing suits and sunblock for his time in Honolulu.

Also, it may be best if you tried to get a 10 trip package rather than buying individual plane tickets each year. It can save you a buck or two.

Please know that I have gone so far as to take his identity on as my username. If you need any help picking out his clothes, let me know. I may be able to get you a deal.

Best regards, and thanks for bringing him up right,

    Revis Flytrap

I think the primary reason is that RBs are not getting to the second level this year nearly as much as they did last year.

If I remember correctly, he had a lot of tackles on run plays last year.

thats a great point. teams have really abandoned the running game altogether against us this year. so even with all the extra passing attempts revis is still having an all-pro year. very exciting, and people were worried about him holding out of training camp last year.

    Darrelle Revis is the man.

    Love watching him play

By the way if anyone collects sports cards the card in my signature is a printing plate 1/1 of Revis (basically means its the only one in existence and it was used to print the reverse image of that card on the printing press.)

I have other scans of the other versions of the card but can not post links, I own 12% of one of his cards limited to 25 and then the one in my signature which is the only black printing plate in existence.

He has easily been my favorite player for a while..

It also tells us that while the stats may indicate otherwise, our run defense has improved significantly.

Revis is the complete package; he can cover, he has natural hands for making interceptions, and (most impressively) he is very physical for a corner. He's a great young player that will have a great career in this league. The scary thing is he could still get better!

I think if you check the game by game stats for last year the whole thing will be easy to understand. Before David Harris became a starter the DBs were the leading tacklers for the Jets and Revis was getting a huge portion of that. Once Harris was made a starter the DB tackle totals IMMEDIATELY declined back down to normal levels and LBs became the leading tacklers.

What on earth would a black man need sunblock for?

    That's awesome bro! Nice collectible!

^Black guys get sunburned too! I learned this from a friend of mine--I know its bizarro but it is the case. They get tanned too.

I'd actually vote this the best name on the board. If Revis was a wrestler and he had a finisher, your username would be the name of that finisher. I don't even doubt it. Not for a second. Nice post too.

    Also, Revis = the shit.

Pastor Mick will be holding a special sermon on Revis' shutdown skills this Thursday, October 9th, from 7PM-9PM at the Darrelle Revis House of Worship. There will be a showing of his pick 6 at intermission... I hope you can make it.

    Punch and Pie afterwards.

the rookie is on the other side, and our LBs can't cover TEs. Why should they throw towards him?

because he already picked off 3 passes, in 4 games, with such a limited amount of passes coming his way. Thats why....
