I've been a Packers fan all my life. Brett's skills have not diminished as much as people think. He's not as fast as he used to be but, his arm is still strong and he still see's the field better than any other qb in the game. When Brett and your WR's get on the same page you'll see what I mean.

I think he is still geting better considering he set a career high for touchdowns. After this bye week he will be much more in sync with the offense and will just continue to improve

What is amazing is... even record wise, everyone thought favre had pretty much done all he can do in his career.

Then, he does something he has never done,t oss 6 td's, two on fourth downs due to not having a reliable kicker.

I do have a thought, and yes it is far fetched... we all know he is on pace for 48 td's (pretty much panning out to 3 td's a game). It seems the offensive scoring, no matter where we are on the field, is going to go through him, so he'll have more chances for TD's then in years past.

This being the case, it is concievable that the alltime TD mark set by Brady Last season at 50 could possibly be matched.

Oh,a nd if favre even gets just 30+ td's and 15 ints, and take sthe jets to the playoffs, I think there is little doubt favre nails down his 4th MVP. Seriously, what other player is playing better at QB right now in the NFL.

I don't think Brady's record is in reach, unless Favre throws 6 TDs 4 more times... thats not going to happen. Wish it did though.

The 4th MVP is very possible, but the Jets would have to have 11 wins and make the playoffs or win the division, and Favre would need a great TD:INT, better than what he had last year.............. that 4th MVP could happen, no one can argue that Favre is unfathomably valuable to this team, more than anyone else is to their respective team right now.

If tom brady was not in the nfl last year, it would of been Favre who held the MVP award. So, why would what he did last season not be good enough this season? No one else is going to go undefeated and toss 50td's.

If he has last years numbers with this years jets, he would still win the MVP.

Anyways, this is way to early to deabte over. As for "impossible" for Favre to touch 50 td's - while I did admit it was a stretch, at his current pace he needs to average, I believe, 3.2 td's a game. I don't think anyone is doubting that he may be able to average 3 a game. He would just need to get a few 4 td performances in.

Just saying, it is conceivable. Just like it is concievable the brewers win the next two games at home, and force game 5 in philly. It's a stretch, but the window is there.

Its only normal that he doesent scramble like he use to he's 39 years old and has been through many battles and never left. I Think 6 TD's was great but i think after the bye getting fully gelled with the guys and the offense he will be performing at his peak.

i feel its about as big a stretch as there can be. hopefully starting next week the jets goalline formation wont always have to be the spread shotgun formation. hopefully they can begin to establish some type of power run game and not need to put all on favre when we get on the goal line.

this offense isn't like the pats of last year, they could have ran the ball in they were actively looking to get brady the most tds possible. and i would have too if you have a dominant reciever like randy moss playing as hard as he ever has in his career. that team was probably the only team in history who would have considered it easier to pass for a 1 yard td on the goal line than run it. it was pretty much automatic for them with the qb and recievers they had.

this jets offense while much improved, is no where even close to what the pats had going on last year. i think 40 tds is going to look like a stretch come the end of they year.

the window is always there, and i'm willing to believe.

I was a Brett Favre fan (at age 7) before I was a Jet fan (10).

And to think, in the first quarter of that game, I was cursing and even booing his first interception which was just horrendous. 6 touchdowns later, no one cares.

The TD record is conceivable. Just very unlikely. But the offense should average more than 3 TDs a game (a Brett Favre offense pretty much always does I think), it just depends on how much is spread out between him and the RBs. Favre's had some great games where's only thrown 1 TD pass while the RBs get 3. If it gets reversed then you never know.

To me, the best thing I could see Favre do is sign a contract extension here.

I've joked to my friends about the TD record, but you have to be a complete douche I think to throw that many. Because in actuality it becomes making play decisions based on records i.e. Brady.

Still, I wouldn't put it past him. Broadway Brett, if you feel Favre is only in the top 20 of all time, I beseech you to name 15 or more QBs who were better since you did not place him in the top 15 or less of all time category.

Uh I don't know about that. When he was winning those three MVPs he just dominated with a decent team and Antonio Freeman. Really mediocre teams the last 8-9 years and a coach who didn't like to pass one year and it held him back but he's the same still gunning for a win.

Behavioral science says that most humans have a loss aversion which means they try to avoid losses rather than capture wins (they play safe). That doesn't work so well in sports because of the time factor but its still human nature. Favre doesn't care about bad plays or ill considered throws (losses) when the game is getting out of hand--he is all about capturing those gains and 40 plus times in the 4th quarter he's had to come back. Some games he's playing catch-up the whole game but he keeps trying to win when the other team starts playing not to lose he gets em.

If Brady didn't have that monster team last year Favre would have had a 4th MVP so I think he's operating on a high level generally. I think he's been 1st 3x and 2nd a number of times and 3rd etc. He'll be in the top 3 of the MVP.

It's looking like Favre will still be leading the league in touchdowns and passer rating even while being on a bye week!

Sorry if I intrude on the love-in, but I'm guessing there weren't a lot of clips of him in 2005 and 2006 in those highlights, lol.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm a Favre groupie with the best of them. But pretty much from day one of being on this board I've been concerned not so much that he will disappoint by not playing to his potential, but that you guys will set yourself up to be disappointed by expecting him to be some kind of football god. I guess I'm just here to say, you guys seem to be getting dangerously back to where some of you were in the preseason on that topic ...

football god? i dont think any of us are saying that. he is easily the best qb i have seen play for the jets. everyone is just excited at what this offense can do with a qb as good as favre. the cardinals game was a nice taste. obviously no one is expecting him to throw 6tds again, but just thinking about all the possibilities with him under center is exciting, plus this week was bye week. so we have nothing to complain about this week, meaning the favre love is back to a new high.
