actually he clearly led with the helmet, whether he intended to hit him in the head or not Goodell has made it clear he wants a very serious crackdown on guys leading with the helmet like that, same reason there have been a bunch of penalties for h2h this year. In this case it was a very nsty looking hit that got played on TV a bunch so it was the perfect opportunity to give out a suspension as a message to the league as a whole. Honestly watching it I assumed he was going to miss a game, it was a pretty vicious hit and he was obviously trying to hit with his helmet not the shoulder.

I normally don't curse on here...but this is a fuking joke!! Did anyone realize that Smith was burying his head, because at the point of inpact, Bouldins chest was at Smith's head? And the impact of Rhodes pushing into Bouldin, made Smith hit him helmet to helmet???? This has to be a joke!!!! Smith did nothing wrong!! ZERO!! He went for a tackle, and got punished for it!! Im LIVID!!!! Do you think Eric Smith went into that play trying to injure Bouldin????? This is an outrage!!!! Fukk the league....I'm beside myself. I'm sorry...but this was not a hit that should have penalized Eric Smith. The guy was in a heap in the end zone...I was watching the poor guy, and no one was paying attention to him. He was in a daze....couldn't move. But it's his fault???? UNREAL

sucks that he's suspended a game but we'll live without him since he's not too important.

This is tough to take after a while.

This "whoa is me", "the league is out to get the Jets", "this wouldn't have happened to so & so" stuff has to stop.

Rodney Harrison has lost more than $200,000 to fines in his career and was suspended for a helmet-to-helmet hit on at least one occasion.

He deserved that and more. Someone get's hurt, clearly there has to be a suspension and a fine. No question. They should start wearing flags around their waists, and if one of the flags if grabbed, then you are tackled.. that way no one will get hurt. NFL is no longer just the No Fun League, from here on out it's the National Flagfootball League. Problem solved.

Seriously though, that's fucking bullshit. I mean what happened is clear as day on the tape. Then Whisenhunt has the balls to go out and say "I think it's one of the hits that falls into the category of being dangerous to players". You know what's fucking dangerous to players? Airing the ball out to the middle of the field into double coverage between two hard-hitting safeties. That's dangerous to players. Doing it with 27 seconds on the clock, down 21 points, and then pointing the finger at someone else when your player goes down.. that's horseshit.

Can't say I really disagree. It wasn't intentionally, but then again, he was trying to hit him as hard as he could.

Just look at it from the other side, if that was Rodney Harrison, we'd be calling for the same penalties.

Sucks for us, but I can't say I'm really surprised.

I'm just thankful that Boldin is OK.

It's just total bullshit. Nick Barnett gets fined $7500 for a helmet on helmet against Kitna 2 weeks ago and he makes about 100x what Smith makes but then he doesn't play for the Jets. This is just the usual NFL hate of the Jets and only fools don't see it. I think he may have had another one against Adrian Peterson too and that was also a $7500 fine and I know he had a $7500 horse collar fine against somebody else. At that rate he could kill 3 or 4 more players and still not get fines what Smith did. Total bullshit.
