When you know the opponent is passing every single down and you can't stop the opponent from scoring a TD on 5 straight possessions, that is just plain pathetic. I don't even know who to really put this on (coaching staff, play calling, players execution) but I've never been less enthusiastic about a win.
i could understand if they were getting a lot of short passes ... dinking and dunking ... but when you're running the prevent defense they shouldn't be scoring like that they should be embarrassed by what the cards have been able to do in the second half
call me crazy but sutton needs to be fired after this game. We are about to lose this game now with 3 minutes left in the game. pathetic
Was anyone scared of losing at any point? I wasn't. Annoying, but it'll change...call it a lesson learned.
This is the same crap on D i was pissed at when we playe Miami. I got killed on here for it. had we not scored 34 points in the 1st half,we get absolutely killed this game.
This problem- complacency with a lead and/or lack of halftime adjustments- has plagued this team since 2006... Something needs to change... And if you were confident up 2 scores with the Cards scoring at will, you must be high...
Short week flew across the country and beat the crap out of a decent not great NFL team. Great must win going into the bye. Nothing at all to be upset about we should all be thrilled with todays win.
Is Bob Sutton some kind of defensive genius? No. That being said, the D played amazing the first half of the game and then backed off and let Arizona score a bunch of times once the Jets had a ridiculous lead. When the game became in reach by Arizona, the Jets pulled away once again. Now, if you want something to complain about from this game, let's talk about Jay Feely.
I'm absolutely thrilled with the way the offense and Brett Favre played today. I'm absolutely thrilled with the couple of big STs plays we made... I'm thrilled with the huge improvement in playcalling by Schottenheimer. I'm thrilled with the way the D came out of the tunnel to start the game, and the original game plan. But they didn't make any adjustments, and were absolutely pathetic in the 2nd half. Just because your offense has a great day, and you score 56 points, does not mean that 35 points in one half given up by the defense is acceptable.... 35 points given up in a GAME is not acceptable, if you want to be a great team...
Its natural to let down every sport has ebb and flow, I'm not concerned about it at all. The D played well when they were under adversity they didn't when they weren't simple as that.
The D came out flat after the half... shouldn't be expected with a 34 point lead but it was what it was.
Yea...thats one way to look at it...nice and convenient it started in '06 with you right? You act like Mangini wasn't pissed. Shit happens...we never lost the lead or were even seriously threatened to lose the lead...so why even make it an issue if all that ends up is everyone says the same shit back and forth and we call it "discussion." 1. I was high. 2. We were also scoring at will. We scored 56 points on their pretty talented D too... 3. Iunno why you guys really get yourselves so caught up in the negatives like you can actually do shit about it. The same you talk, you'd swear we win games *despite* everything about the team...lol...
But we did? No way the D played the way they did in the second half without a 34 point lead. And believe it or not... Arizona's offense woulda been a hell of alot different too.
Thats good WB...ebb and flow...what is just is...if it's something that can be fixed...and theres people willing to fix it...then it'll probably be fixed. I realize we're idiots for not getting up in arms about every minor detail...but you gotta keep your eyes on that prize and in the end a win is a win (and a loss is a loss).
I'm not making excuses for the defense...which struggled in the second half due to a poor pass rush which didnt come alive till the 4th qtr.. ..W/ that said..we won by 21 points and lets not forget that Zona has a helluva offense. If this had happened against the Chiefs...I'd be concerned...but against Zona..and we still win going away...ya just shrug it off and move on.
1) I know you were high, 2) And I've praised the offense as such. It all finally came together today and it was great to watch. 3) I'm concerned with us becoming a great team. We have the talent in place, without question, to be an excellent ballclub, but when you see issues that persist, and serve to handicap a team that is full of potential, you have to hope something gets done about them... I never said it started in '06. We had the same issue under Herm, save for 2004. But I know whining about the failures of past coaches as a way to criticize Sutton & Co isn't much of an argument. I do know that this issue has persisted now for 2 and a quarter seasons, and something needs to be done about it...
I just wanted that game to end. Really, rushing 3 never works. I'm satisfied with the win but: 1) We're lucky that Arizona imploded in the first halff. 2) I really hope Bolden is OK. That looked awful.
