I know the game itself was largely unenjoyable, but did anyone else here absolutely crack up when Feely leveled that one Chargers player while recovering the onsides kick that, unfortunately, hit his leg? I can only imagine what that guy has been hearing from his teammates since then. Getting tackled by the kicker on a return is bad, but to be actually be decked by the kicker must be far worse. Anyone else think this was kinda awesome?
i had already come to grips with the fact the game was over, and was just watching because i like football at that point. so yes watching feely lower the shoulder and mess that guy up was funny as hell.
Yeah that was pretty good - he actually looked like a football player for a minute. It would have been much more enjoyable if the ball didn't hit his leg first.
Does it bother anyone else that he was wearing gloves? In San Diego? I can understand if your playing in NJ in 12 degree weather but im pretty sure it was low 70's out there that night. Come on bro toughen up. But yes it was pretty funny he did lay a nice hit on that guy.
Feely has actually said he does consider himself a football player, that's why he hits the weights and works on his tackling form. When he was with the Giants and our LB core was decimated with injuries the running joke was that our MLB depth chart was Nick Greisen, Jay Feely, Brandon Jacobs.
You actually bring up a good point, even inadvertantly. I wonder if he was wearing gloves all night because there was talks of an onsite kick prior to going into the game? Since it was one of those 10 yard dribblers that he was supposed to pick up, wonder if that could have tipped off the defense......anyone remember the Tampa game when C Mart took off his glove at the snap so he could throw the ball to Chrebet?
I thought that was halarious. Whoever that was on San Diego definitly heard about it the next day. Feely crushed him.
Some old google image search pictures don't have Feely wearing gloves during games, even when it was cold and he had long sleeves on. It must have been for the onsides recovery. Did he have them on all game?
I used to love watching John Hall throw guys around on kickoff returns. I think he even got a couple of roughness penalties.
that was awsome, the jets should have just put him in on the 2 point conversion when they were on the centimeter yard line after what he did on that block
I like to think in Feeley's defense, that it was Shockey that jinxed him for pointing at the camera with a huge goofy fucking smile on his face already celebrating. Serves him and the Giants right. That alone pissed me off enough to wish for them to lose that game. All thanks to that dickhead Shockey.
He had the right idea though, and would have had the recovery if it didn't hit his leg. The ball took an awkward bounce straight up and his Feely's thigh. I am pretty sure the idea was for the ball to hit the Chargers player, they for Feely to smoke that guy and fall on the other side of the ball, like a ruck, so that the Jets players(or Feely) could grab it. It was executed perfectly except for the awkward bounce of the ball, which you can't account for.
The hit he laid on that guy was impressive, but if we are depending on a kicker who wasn't even on the roster until week 2 to lay a key hit on a STs blocker, I have to wonder what Westy was thinking.
