Vernon Gholston's first NFL tackle! With one arm no less! What can't this beast do?

Seriously, it's about time, but we got his first tackle. Congrats, Vernon, and we hope to see you in someone's backfield soon.

  2. In all seriousness he made a nice move on 3rd down on SD's first drive and barely missed a sack. I know it's not much..but it's better than nothin.

^ Are you kidding? He didn't make a move... Rivers had forever in the pocket... Gholston didn't penetrate past two yards deep, and he slid off the block to hit Rivers as he ran towards the LOS....

I know you like to look for positives, but other than some sweet hands on the OS kick team, I haven't seen many

It'll take all year for progress... i'm not paying attention to him until year 2 and 3... I don't care about the OLB spot when its covered by two guys who are playing great.

    See you in 2010 Vernon.

He does look better when he is rushing from the weak side. However you can not take away Pace's opportunities from the weak side either. Pace has been a beast one-on-one rushing from the weak side.

Pace rushes well...Tackles ball carriers...And shows something.

I will say I'm stunned he is playing so well after his big ass contract...Hats off.

    We spent a top-10 pick on a part-time Special Teams contributor. :)

Just checked the Stats for the game. Faneca had as many tackles as Gholston.

for a high first round pick he seems to be having difficulty picking up the geniuses' defensive schemes. 1 tackle in 3 games, give me a break. Looks like Eric ain't the genius he was made out to be. He seems to really love running into the meat of a defense and gaining little or maybe he doesn't quite trust Favre yet, the olde gunslinger. Pennington looks better and better. This season may cost Doughboy his head coaching job if the carnage continues.

Gholston made one shoe string tackle and recovered an onside kick. What are we celebrating?

I think its a celebration of his brute strength, cuz clearly if he was not insanely strong, that tackle of his would have been a whiff. Actually I still expected the guy to walk right out of Gholston's arms based on position and the shittiest line up-en-hittem i've ever seen. But he still wrestled his man down.

So Props to Gholston for being insanely strong in the upper body.

I'm not exactly Gholstons biggest fan (have his jersey though ), but c'mon guys! Hes young, learning and has better experienced Vets in front of him.
WHY should he automatically be better than whats already there, because hes a top 10 pick? Please.
