It is nice to see Santana helping himself out, we need all the runs we can get.

Unfortunately these aren't enough runs yet, even if he pitches 8 shutout innings. He needs to pitch a complete game, or the Mets need another 5 or 6 runs before I'll be confident.

The Brewers pulled off something even we couldn't manage this season:

Lose a game where you lead by 4 runs with no one on and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.

That's another step towards bouncing the Brewers and ensuring a playoff spot.

wow, i didnt know the cubs did it w/2 outs and nobody on, thats a sign [for the brewers] of a team in shambles

it really was amazing. I had given up on the Cubs for dead. down 4 in the bottom of the 9th. I underestimated the suckiness of the Milwaukee 'pen.

I watched the 10th and 11th. Missed the weird 12th because of a prior engagement. Brewers had 2nd and 3rd, no one out in the top of the 12th and didn't score. That's a Mets trademark! They take what we do and magnify it.

    bottom of the 9th.

    Salomon Torres pitching:
Ryan Theriot: Strike looking, Theriot lined out to shortstop.
Derrek Lee: Ball, Strike looking, Strike looking, Lee flied out to right.
Aramis Ramirez: Ramirez doubled to left center.
Jim Edmonds: Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Edmonds singled to center, Ramirez scored.
Mark DeRosa: Ball, DeRosa singled to right, Edmonds to third.
Geovany Soto: Soto homered to left center, Edmonds and DeRosa scored.
Kosuke Fukudome: Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Fukudome grounded out to shortstop.

top of the 12th, still tied at 6.

    Brewers 12th
    Kerry Wood pitching:
J.J. Hardy: Ball, Strike looking, Ball, Foul, Ball, Hardy singled to center.
Corey C. Hart: Pickoff attempt, Bunt foul, Strike (missed bunt), Foul, Hart doubled to center, Hardy to third.
Craig Counsell: Ball, Counsell grounded out to second.
Jason Kendall: Kendall reached on fielder's choice to third, Hardy out at third
Joe Dillon hit for Seth McClung.
Joe Dillon: Foul, Strike looking, Ball, Dillon grounded out to shortstop.
End of Inning (0 Runs, 2 Hits, 0 Errors)

Uh oh - only a 6 run lead with two innings to go and Santana at 107 pitches.
