I've been reading, and listening to all the screaming, regarding "mangini's" bad offensive play calling. While i agree, mangini, as a head coach, has to be held accountable for everything that goes on with this team, i also feel enough hasn't been said about Schottenheimer's ability as an offensive coordinater.

This guy needs to be taken to task on the rediculous play calls.Lining up, in the same formation, 3x!!!!! Against a coach, and a defense as seasoned as Belicheck, and the Pats!! Unacceptable.
What's also unacceptable is the excuse that the offense is paired down, because Favre's still getting used to it. That's utter bullshit.
You can't tell me we only have one formation we could line up in,to run out of, on the goaline. Shottenheimer's a joke.

It's really unclear to me the degree of autonomy Shotinthefooter has here and same with Sutton. They both seem like loyal subjects of Manginius.

Actually Woody should axe Shotty & make BF the OC since BF has more FB knowledge in 1 pinky then Shotty has in his entire brain

This would solve the problem of the prevent offense.

When you have 1st & Goal on the 1 yd line and you don't use your HOF QB to pass to Bubba Franks or anyone else for that matter, YOU SUCK AS A COACH!

To run the same fokken play 3x in a row against a coach like Belichicken, you have NO BRAINS. Pathetic.

I couldn't agree more! It was absolutely BS when I saw the same freakin play called AGAIN on 3rd and goal that had failed the previous 2 times.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if we would have scored the touchdown. A lot of other teams probably would have done the same thing except their offensive lines are probably a little better than ours in regards to running the ball. We did gain yards on the previous two plays though so our short yardage running game was working before the last play. I just wish we had a running back that could jump over the pile Westbrook style because that third down running play would have definitely been an automatic touchdown.

I also wouldn't have been against Mangini going for it on forth down. The reason being is that the Patriots are a team that you have to keep on hitting. If you give them any breathing room you're done and going for it on forth down would have caught them slightly off guard. If we would have gone on it on forth down and scored that game would have played totally different by the Patriots.

The thing that gets me, Ok we run the first time and pick up one yard. If we had gotten 2 or 2.5 yards you think Ok we get it punched in next play, no problem but 1 and then 1 more, do they think its going to get marginally better because even at 4th and inches you have to take the FG.

Run on the first play, I get that but the second play should have been a high percentage short pass. Honestly, the coaching staff learned eventually because next time on the goal line Favre executes a perfect lob touch pass to Stuckey.

So much for the idea that Favre only throws burners and bombs.

Not that I think Schotty is good, but listening to the fans is what got us a kicker in the second round.

With the "plenty of season left" attitude, We're doomed!
We must treat every game as a must win. It isn't often Brady is not at the helm of the Pats, A DIVISION RIVAL!!! We should have been agressive, and seized control of that game.
Running 3 straight times, out of the same formation, is Bullshit!! Not giving Favre cart blanche, to audible, is even more bullshit!!!

Herm was good that throwing players and coaches under the bus, but 95% of this board wanted to hang Brien from a flagpole, the Nugent pick was made to please the fans. Herm and Bradway were morons for listening, but it was to please the fans nonetheless.

Well could have been however I am leaning more towards HE was in panic mode maybe as you say cause of the fans but iif that was the case it is just another good reason why HE is somewhere else as he should be smart enough to know he could have easily picked up another FGK.

I hardly doubt the irrational fanbase of the Jets has any impact on the outcome of the games.

I didn't particularly care for the 3 straight run plays but I'm pretty sure if they would have scored on 3rd down everyone would have been on this very site saying how the playcalling was brilliant blah blah blah.

You know, this is a good way of looking at it. After having only gained a yard on the first play, what really was it that would make someone think the next time running that play you would get a much better result?

Well there is something called stubborness which is what Man & Shotty try to prove with there version of NYJ smash mouth FB. BTW that same stubborness trait is the reason Graham stuck around as long as he did

They ran into Richard Seymore three times! If Man-Schotty will not open it up with one of the greatest five Qb of all time then he will never open it up! 10-7 ain't cuttin it next Monday in San Diego!
