Wow, it is always fun coming in here after a loss and hearing about just how atrocious this team is. They say misery loves company, and for some reason I get a small chuckle seeing some of the ridiculous posts after here after a Loss. Lets be real though...we are not a horrible team. Neither do we appear to be superbowl bound. We barely managed to beat the fins (armed with Chad P), how can anyone dream so big after that victory??

Reality:We appear to be the same ol jets as far as playcalling is concerned. Conservative/smash mouth type games that generally slow the game down until we are absolutely forced to score, only then do we open things up some. Make no mistake we ran some routes with depth...chalk it up to the Patriots Defense and some untimely calls for shutting down the deep stuff. Our approach on O will keep us close in most games, but make no mistake, unless we change our approach and start rolling the dice more we will be on the outside looking in as far as playoffs are concerned.

Of course what would being the same ol jets be w/o getting so many calls go against us? It made me numb EVERYTIME I saw a flag go up && we made a big play on Offense b/c I knew that without fail the call was against us. Such is life as a Jet fan; I would think most of us would be used to this by now.

Things were not all bad today. I for one enjoyed our play on defense. Besides Screen plays and Lamont Jordan we held our own. Our FA defensive acquisitions are looking great (that call on Pace was a little rough) and its nice to see us with personnel that fits the scheme. Our defense so far has been worth the $$$ we put into it and we can finally put away that damn 'square peg in a round hole' analogy.

So. . .the season is ending its 2nd weeks so with no major injuries I'm not ready to push the panic button yet. No, I'm probably not joining the Brian Schotty fan club in the near future, and I am planning on forming the Graham must go club...but being a jets fan this long I was slowly mentally preparing for a MAJOR reality check next week vs. San Diego anyway. 7 more days of living under the delusion that we are NOT the same ol jets isn't going to make or break me.

It ain't easy being green. . .but we have A LOT more football left to play.:jets:

I can see the team going on a run after the bye week, but I'd like to see this team make a statement against a perennial contender to put fear into the rest of the league... this is why we aren't taken seriously by other teams.

  3. The loss hurts deep down...but ya know...we lost due to some conservative playcalling, lousy penalties and execution. The gap between us and the patriots IS closing...we one alot of the trench battle today. Give Favre acouple more weeks in this O...and let Schotty realize that he needs to open the playbook, and I think things are gonna get alot better.

The Jets lost this week to a good team, a week after barely beating one of the worst teams in the NFL. May be all this Super Bowl talk was premature.

face reality friend...Mangini is an asshole and so is the whole freakin staff. We''l be lucky if we win 4 games this year with conservative bullshit coaching like this.

One thing I noticed was that the Jets were constantly running the clock down to 0-3 seconds on the play clock - which shortens the game. Again this is such a defensive / defeatist tactic - as if the Jets was to stall and hope things go their way. I hope that this type of thing doesn't contnue further into the season.

Enough moral victories already. So tired of hearing of how we kept it close against a great tram. I want to see the Jets BE that great team.

I think the Jets played with the fear of the Pats for most of the game. Towards the end, it seemed as if the Jets finally started to believe they can beat this team. I think the CS is scared of the Pats and until they believe this team can beat the Pats, the Jets won't.

I was hopeful about today's game, but not too much. The system over there in NE is a well-oiled machine. I never thought they'd go down easy.

On the other hand, the Jets' offense hasn't found its groove. It may take one or two more games for that to happen. I think it will be a juggernaut once it does.

I think we have the personnel to go to the Super Bowl this year and the personnel should be given a chance to win.

Also, we have Favre for this year only. Everyone must play 100% and that includes coaches.

I want to hear from Mangini that the coaches have let this team down. Then, I would have more faith in them. It would show that they are willing to learn.

The biggest problem that I saw was the lack of consistency on the offensive side of the ball. Where were the 10+ play drives? Now we did have some big plays but we couldn't string them together with enough 4+ yard plays to put points on the board. Until our offensive line can take over a game (Jell?) and allow us to make such extended drives, we are looking at more of the same. If our big plays don't create points, we are toast. :drunk:

The reality is that this is probably an 8-8 or 9-7 team. That's just what it is. The offensive line is ok, the defensive line is ok, the linebackers are ok, the skill position players are ok, only the defensive secondary verges on being better than just ok and what all of that spells is a bit better than .500 in all likelihood.

It's just frustrating that in the year the Pats suddenly seem vulnerable the Bills are the team that's going to give them a real race.

Um....no. It's just really safe for you to say that. Most teams are 8-8/9-7. Hell the difference between that and double digit wins can be a few big plays....at which point you'd say we caught a couple of lucky breaks.

This team could easily win 10-11 games and thats only because the team will take a little bit of time to adjust. We're playoff contenders, whether you Go-with-the-winders want to admit it this week or not.

I still think this team is a wild card team if it can adjust.. more play like this and that wild card goes to the Titans and Jags/Colts... if this team doesn't play physical against a physical SD team, it'll be 1-2.. and this sky is falling will continue.. but if this team tries to make a stand and falls to the better team, i'll not be one to attack the coaching staff.

The team played very physical today...we matched them in rushing yardage, did it with a better YPC, and threw for more yardage.

The not physical thing? The outcoached thing? It's all in your head. We lost because we got dominated in ST's, and because they didn't do stupid shit like get 40 yard passes called back for interference, drop open first downs, and commit our various other penalties. A sack against Cassel gets overturned because Ellis committed a facemask penalty. Thats 15 free yards for a team that you don't give free yards to.

    Fuckin...chill...

I believe that this is something that Favre does. Maybe it is a carry-over from what he learned in the WCO. He likes to have all that time to look over the defense. I do agree though that they should switch it up sometimes since it lets the defense know that they just have to wait until the very last tick of the playclock.

The personnel is good. The coaching is bad. Sorry to say it, but I now have serious questions about Eric Mangini being a coach who can win a Super Bowl.

This is as bad a sports Sunday as possible.

ok everyone chill. It's one loss to an obviously great team, not to mention that we definitly should have won this game, there were so many oppurtunities. But we must put this in the past and move on to SD forget about it they were going to lose one game this season anyway. Last time we lost to NE at home in week 2 was 06 and we played them in a tight game lost 24-17 and went to beat them at their house later that season so it's all good fellas
