That was the sentiment of Tom Jackson and Chris Berman on Countdown this morning.

And it's true. Your home opener against a team without Tom Brady, starting some guy who hasn't played since HS, you acquire a HOF QB and lose?

So if the Jets can't take advantage of this opportunity...Will they ever?

    Amazing.

Their statement is 100% true: we have the talent, but we lack the coaching. We got out coached and lost the field position game horribly today. They need to find a way to win these divisional games.

This is the 100 million dollar question.

The Jets were given a better than "excellent" chance to take advantage of a weakened Pats team...and it was squandered by shitty play calling. You could see it in Favre's face on the sidelines!! He's was probably saying "why the fuck am i dinking and dunking my way down the field??"

We aren't going anywhere until we get a new punter.

Its week 2. Week 2. Week 2. We got the whole season. It wont be that bad once we kill them in foxboro. Favre is still getting settle, this team will play better.

The NE Offense didnt kill us, well Cassell at least.

It was the Defense that shut the offense of ours down as well as the NE ST game just abused us and just gave us tough field to work with.

I dont think Cassell will kill NE but he also wont win them games. He will manage the game and that is it for NE. Their D and ST will be heavily relied upon to pick up the paydirt like everyone else has expected and they did just that today.

The bigger story which impressed me from NE is even with Moss being useless today that they were able to move the chains and do damage on us.

While I know there is a sliver of truth to this, it might be one of the funniest fucking things I've ever heard. Really. He's never been great, and it seems he's getting worse, not better. How many times could we give them the ball in our territory? Might as well make every drive 4 down territory. What's the difference with Shittenheimer's O and our crappy punter?

The game was hyped like a playoff game, and could easily have been one. The Jets had a GOLDEN opportunity and absolutely blew it. You have to TAKE these opportunities by the BALLS when they come at you. We didn't do that. If not now, WHEN?

EcKo, this is my problem with the Jets, GENERALLY. Every season we suffer certain shortcomings, we spend the off-season fixing those, and then start the next season and find new shortcomings. It's ALWAYS "just one last piece."

We were in a no-win situation in this game. If we won, it was because Tom Brady was out. If we lost. . . . Bah!

Yes, unlike other teams. I also don't care WHAT other teams do.

This team shows flashes...sack by Jenkins, great hit in the backfield by Rhodes, Revis has Moss shut down almost all day...Stuckey shows some promise..big play by Coles, solid running game..

And then the wheels come off, interception, facemask, missed FG, run D dissapears, no more pressure on the QB.

This team is Jekyl and Hyde, and frustrating to watch....

All I can say is the Patriots fans are in for a rude awakening with Cassel when they play a game that actually requires him to make a play for them to win. You've got Randy Moss 10 yards behind every defender and no pressure on you and you underthrow the pass so severely that the DB can get back in time to break it up? Yikes.

Every season is a tease. There were some solid things, but I have lost all faith in the offensive play calling of this team. The D disappeared because they played way more than the offense. 2 Dropped by coles. He should have caught both. Too busy worrying about his lover down in Miami, and not enough time spent with his team.

  16. I'm beginning to think the answer is never. This team is NEVER going to get over the hump. They'll lose to the Patriots the next 20 tries and will have 5 "one and out" playoff runs in that same sequence. Sad but true. The team is cursed.
