It's hard to interpret what he means out of observing the context. Could mean he is comparing himself over time and finds himself "disadvantaged" relative to his own play before or could mean that he feels other players currently have an "advantage" over him. Perhaps because he missed practice, or perhaps because Cotch and Favre seem in sync. Could mean that he is merely stating that Favre is less predictable than Chad but there seems to be a subtle accusation such as "I was running the plays as drawn up and Brett was deviating, so I was right but Mangini told me to go with Brett's take. Hope this doesn't become a distraction. A friend of his should teach him about keeping his yap closed-- "Even a fool appears wise when he does not speak"
Hey--really like your poker posts--reminds me of that movie with Norton and Damon--I figure your the Damon kid. Regarding that throw, yeah, he didn't touch it but it was an awesome throw--right where it needed to be given the defenders position. Obviously, he didn't expect it there and thats understandable given his lack of preparation.
Of course there's an adjustment period when u go from QB to QB. But to run to the coach and tell him the new QB isn't running the drawn up plays (which Coles should know if he's ever watched Brett play or seen any Favre highlights in the last 16 years) rather than approaching Brett Favre himself and working on their timing, signals and routes doesn't help anybody. It just makes Coles look like and sound like a whiney little bitch.
I really used to like Coles, and believe it or not, when we drafted him I was so pumped because it was a steal in round 3. I lived in Florida at the time and saw him play a lot, before Peter Warrick and Coles went shoe shopping and got caught getting freebies...But he is just so self oriented it is nuts...It's a team sport and for all his talent he could be so much better, but his attitude gets in the way.
Wow, so yet another thread where people are going to beat on Coles for something they assume he meant, even though nothing he actually said supports their POV. Amazing. Maybe Coles should demand a trade. Then who would the next target to bitch about be? There's not one single phrase in that entire posting that sounds like he's actually whining. It sounds, like every other instance, that his words are being manipulated to sound like he's got an attitude. I don't get it. There's a thread praising Chris Baker now that he's got a new deal, and multiple ones villifying Coles. I never wonder why it is that God Hates Jets Fans.
Let's hope he does a tampon check and starts playing for Bretts Jets and not whining about him pining for Sad Chad.
He could have just said it was going to take him a little time to adjust as he didn't get much work in with Favre during the offseason, if that's what he meant. It just seems to me that he feels he is too old to have to adjust to another QB. He was comfortable...now he is not.
What good team mate says "If I fit in I fit in, and if I don't I'm not going to stress over it"? Sorry, that kind of sends the tone of the rest of his statements into a different area...At least that is how it reads to me. It isn't like I'm extrapolating some crazy theory based off an innocuous statement...
I guess you're talking about the old poker thread in the BS forum? The throw was placed well, but like you said he wasn't ready for it. He didn't get to build chemistry with Favre like the other receivers in the offseason. I'm sure he'll pick up as that chemistry grows.
Coles, didnt have many drops, he was only targeted 4 times. He caught one simple pass for 5 yds. The others we not catchable balls like the throw in the end zone. Randy Moss could not have caught that pass. It just shows that Favre and Coles are not yet on the same page and honestly, even last year Coles was the #1WR on the team or he at least perceived that. This year there is no doubt the #1 is Cotch who has the inside track with Favre. He is being a bitch and needs to step it up. I have him on my fantasy team. He also has this pain in the ass never ending hammy issue, which if he doesnt go full speed in practice will not have good results in the game. Did anyone else notice B Smith was starting on first and second downs the entire game and on third down Coles would come in? This tells me he is not 100%, more like 75-80%.
Lets just hope that Chansi stays healthy. If he can stay in good health he could be a Coles like steal, only a 7th round heist over a 3 round theft.
I'm not ready to completely disregard him just yet, we need him, teams still see him as a threat, without him Cotchery would get targeted and i don't think Stuckey or Smith or anyone else is ready just yet to step up, what he said was stupid, was it taken out of context? who knows, only he knows what he really meant, i think he should just stop talking to the media and concetrate on getting a connection with Favre, all his moaning will do nothing for this team, trade him for Eddie Royal :beer:
Agreed! You know what it is? People want to hear the cookie cutter bullshit you hear from every other player who is interviewed. I dont know about anyone else but I cant stand listening to player interviews, they all spew out the standard answer crap that is all bullshit in reality. Coles is just stating the facts here and giving his true opinion but apparently nobody wants to hear that, they want to hear the standard "I think Brett is a great QB and we are lucky to have him" crap.
everyone who hasn't played with Favre has to learn or re-learn or adjust; i don't hear Cotchery whining about it, all i see is him making plays. i hope Coles is gone next year, honestly, i dont care how good he is, i'm tired of hearing him bitch about this that and the other thing.
Yes. Dividing the team up and creating distractions on a year we stand a good chance to win our Division is by far better than giving the media cookie-cutter, one-liner answers. That makes sense.
