IF Penny had stayed, lets face it, there would ahve been a good chance that KC would at some point in the season, started.
But Now with Jet favre here (hope I'm not tempting fate here) one of the toughest SOB QBs ever, theres little chance of him seeing any PT this year.
With the emergence of Brett Ratliffe and Erik Ainge is there really any room for a QB that hasn't lived up to expectations?

There is no way he gets traded or cut until Favre finishes his career. Ratliff looked incredible during preseason, but you cant turn over the keys to a Quarterback who hasn't played a down of regular season football.

If favre stays healthy...its safe to say that Clemens could be looked at being traded, with more reps for ratliff...he could ease into the role of starter in 2-3 years

He still has time to sit behind Favre. I'm not sold on him being the future, but see no reason to get rid of him as of yet. KC looked very good last preseason, much like Ratliff did this preseason. That shows me that he could be much better and the Ratliff could regress once he actually has to play NFL caliber first stringers. No reason not to keep all 3 around and hope one develops.

Favre probably isn't here past this season. That's why we have 4 QB's on our roster.

The jury is still out on Kellen Clemens. There is no way anybody can say at this point Ratliff or Ainge are better then Kellen Clemens. To make a serious evaluation on Kellen Clemens you would have to let him start behind a decent offensive line (unlike last year) for a little while before you could get a fair read on him. I personally thought last year he did some good things. If McCareins could catch he would have pulled out a great win in Baltimore. He did some other good things as well as bad things. But it was his first time starting. I know people are high on Ratliff but he played against preseason backup defenses.

That's true. It would be like trying to replace an MVP QB with a guy who has only thrown 39 balls in the NFL.

That said, Aaron Rodgers has had starting experience in college and looked very good when given the chances to play in games. Cassel never started in school and looked awful in several spot duty appearances. He did look decent last week so I'm not sure what we are going to be facing this coming Sunday. That may be one advantage going the Pats way.

But that's completely different. Rodger threw 59 balls.

But seriously though, so far it looks like that could still work out. Still think the Pcke has a better shot this year with Favre, but with luck maybe the drop off will not be very great, and they'll know for sure what the future is before they'd have to resign ARodgers.

I think he's trying to say it's an advantage to Patsies that he has played so little that no one has any clue what he will do. I.e., jets can be surprised.

I think that's what you were trying to say? I don't agree with you that complete inexperience is an advantage, if it is what you are saying, but that's the best I can do figuring out what you (Harpua) said ...

LOL not at all. I was saying Rodgers is better then Cassel. Also stating that no one has seen anything of Cassel so we have very little to go on as far as game planning for him goes. I highly doubt the old tapes of him in high school would really help.

Based on his history thus far – I don’t see any reason Brett Favre couldn’t play for the next 12 or 13 years.

With his toughness, advances in modern medicine and his elevated income – I see him living to about 145 – 150 pretty easily.

NE is doing that this week. GB did it Monday night. Baltimore, Atlanta..should I continue? Of course you can. Everybody plays with a down of regular season experience the first time they play. That's how they get the experience.

His point was that Clemens has at least played during the regular season, and started a few games. Ratliff has only played in the preseason, whereas Rodgers/Cassel have been brought in before to at least get some experience. So he was basically reinforcing the point that that is the reason Clemens is still No. 2, and not surpassed by someone with zero regular season experience.

Yeah, I knew his point but it made no sense. Sure Clemens played but he positively sucked. Does that mean he should have priority over somebody who might actually be good? Nobody will know until he gets a shot and that is exactly what all those other teams that I mentioned are doing.

In all likelihood, this will be Brett Favre's final season.
The Jets will probably draft a quarterback in the first or second round in this upcoming draft, and that player will enter into a quarterback competition. Ainge and Clemens could easily be cut if they lose the competition, but my money would be on Clemens staying along with whoever we draft, and Ratliff. Seeing Clemens start next year would not surprise me at all.
We should, however, definitely draft a QB because I don't see Clemens or Ratliff anchoring a playoff team
