    In the press conference, Mangini mentioned how Chad would be a great coach. He said that because he was asked "Would Chad make a great Coach?"

    The planet knows Chad would be the best QB coach due to his knowledge of the game and his ability to communicate. This is being spun by the media way too much.

    AS A COACH!

    Ive been trying to say that since last season.
    He would be a good QB (edit) COACH or Coordinator. I would love to see him return in that fashion

    NO NO NO Not in any capacity. His ultra-conservative check down style of QB play is not suited for Clemens or Ratliff. He needs to just stay far away from the Jets forever.

    I'd hope that Rhodes Scholar brain of his would realize not every QB had their shoulder torn apart twice and therefore don't have his physical limitations...

    Pennington could make an amazing coach. He understands the game of football.

    I'd be quite happy for him to come back to the Jets as a coach once he figures out he is done.

    Chad is pretty smart. I don't know, he can probably make a decent QB's coach. I wouldn't mind Chad coming back after his career as a player (I doubt he will tho after how the Jets handled him when they got Favre).

    Chad would be phenomenal coach in any capacity, either as an OC or a HC. I'd welcome him here with open arms when his career is over.

    It would have been nice to have Curtis and Chad on the staff.

    bingo.

    he may be a good QB Coach, teaching players how to read a D, footwork, leadership skills, classroom stuff, etc;

    but i wouldn't ever want him as an Offense Coordinator calling plays. he's not aggressive enough -- in fact, he's actually a little bitch that would make Hackett's Offense look like the Greatest Show on Turf.

    The article was from the Saturday Newark Star Ledger.

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2008/09/new_york_jets_schottenheimer_b.html

    This is the whole quote.

    Mangini said he thinks Chad Pennington has a future in football after his playing career is over.

    "He's got a great mind," Mangini said. "Maybe he'll be on TV. Maybe he'll be coaching. The guy can do whatever he wants. He's smart, well-spoken and knowledgeable."

    Asked if he could see having Pennington as an assistant on his staff, Mangini said yes, although, he cracked, "Not this week."

    Thank You for posting this, because the whole thing is being taken out of context.

    Here is the questions that were asked about Chad and the responses, fuckin media sucks:

    On if he will speak to Pennington Sunday…

    I haven't really played that out. I have a great relationship with Chad. I don't think there will be any reason not to. There're positive feelings from me. We had great discussion when we did make the change that we did. I hope to talk to Chad after the game, after the next game, in the future. Chad's going to be not only a good football player for a long time, I could see him having a role in football after he's through playing. He's got a great mind. Maybe he'll be on TV. Maybe he'll be coaching. The guy can do whatever he wants. He's smart, well‑spoken and knowledgeable.

    On if he would have Pennington on his coaching staff…

    Not this week [laughter]. I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. I'm sure he'd be able to do a great job. If that's what he wanted to do, he'd be a great coach.

    ======================================================================================================================

    They take 3 sentences and make it more than it is. It happens all the time in this world. Whats sad is that everyone thinks one way due to this and Chad and Mangini know what is going on and being said. I guess High School never ends.

    He'd probably be better than Jason Garrett, and way less creepy looking.

    I would not mind him being on the Jets coaching staff in the near future.

    He would be a great mentor for Ratliff (if he is still around in a few years) and/or Kellen (if he too is still around in a few years).

    I think Pennington has said he's going to coach HS after his career is done.
