He's only going to learn the game if he plays at least a little. We did use the #6 pick in the draft on him, we might as well give him a shot.
What scares me most about putting him in the game is that we're going to telegraph when and where the blitzes are coming from when he's in the game since he hasn't fully grasped his coverage assignments. With that said, don't take that to mean that I don't want him in the game at all, i'm just saying that's one of the things that worries me. Hopefully, many teams look at it they way I do and we use him as a decoy. Then maybe...just maybe...he'll drop back on a slant route and pick one off and take it to the house.
He knows how to beat Jake Long, so let him do it. Press coverage will beat the Chad ducks anyway. Let the kid hit the QB.
I say keep him on the sidelines at first. If he's in, Miami will specifically design plays to trick him and there will be dolphins running free on the edge. So keep him out till hopefully we have the lead. THEN you wind him up and point him at Chad.
unless he was starting regardless, Miami doesn't have Gholston specific plays. They can audible to a counter run or a screen, but nothing designed for him.
You cannot play 3-4 DE at 260 lbs... You cannot play 3-4 DE at 260 lbs... You cannot play 3-4 DE at 260 lbs... You cannot play 3-4 DE at 260 lbs...
Are you in the huddle or something? Why can't they design a "fool Gholston" play in practice today that they run the second they see #56 come into the game?
Because he's a rookie. What rookie gets that much attention? Peterson didn't get that much attention until after his 296yrd game against the Chargers.
That is because Gholston is the new Chad Pennington. He's every darksiders favorite whipping boy until he starts playing well.
The one's that can't play. Learning or not if you think teams won't target rookies you haven't been watching football very long.
And if you start a rookie who hasn't adapted well to his new position out on the field...then u haven't been watching football for very long either.
wow a pats fan thinks Gholston will garner attention on week 1 against a division rival... thanks, we appreciate that. Thank You for not using smileys... you're learning.
No one was talking about starting, every rookie for every team will be targeted for weakness the second they step on the field. So how unrealistic is it to think teams wouldn't come up with plays to run at individual rookies?
