    The candidates:
    Barret
    Elam
    Smith

We may see a Platoon at FS this week, but I'm guessing Barret gets the start. I actually think that could work out to be a great move if he picks up the position well. He has more speed than any FS and can probably cover better too. We may finally see Miller lining up here too when he comes back.

It could really help out with matchup issues against teams that have real good receiving TE's and confuse QB's.

i think Smith is average at everything he does. At least Elam can hit. He may be wreckless at times, but he will put a hurting on a player every now and then...

I dont like Smith, he plays very slow....Barrett may have some potential, but I went with Elam, more by default....he is much like Miller at CB....hopefully Barrett can pick up the position and give us some relief.

I honestly hope Elam is the starting safety opposite Kerry Rhodes. Elam has lots of talent and potential, he has the heart, thats for shure!

Smith is all brains, not much speed. Elam is physical, no brains, Barrett is a combination of the two plus being old.

    Go draft someone.

I think it has already been decided that it is Smith and Elam is the backup.

Unless "the genius" changes his mind, it's Smith. I'd rather Elam be the starter.

I'd rather Smith, Elam sometimes go's for the big hit instead of just bringing the player to the ground, I'd rather us bring down the player than attempt to knock him out and miss completely. I'm hoping Barret picks up the position, but right now I would rather have Smith there. We do need to address this area in the draft.

Slightly unrelated, but unworthy of its own thread: did we name our practice squad yet?

Elam. He is the backup at safety.
