From what I have seen so far of the new NY Jets fans that have come with Favre, they look and sound like an OK bunch. Punter, Ben Graham bought our Ozzy contingent, again very very welcome... But which player if they became a FA would be a nightmare because they brought their fans with them???? Tom Brady , good QB , but ex-Pasties becoming Jets fans....I nearly choked? Got any worse?
Jason Taylor. McNabb - Anyone who can stomach the Eagles deserves no friends. If Sapp was still playing and he came here, because of the Raider ties - but I'm a Sapp fan, so I'd like him being here. Thats all I got. Oh, if the Bills had anyone of worth that would gather a following.
Wonder if they've caught up that he's back in the NFL. Things might move kinda ... slowly with them, you know :smile:
Gustoonarmy: I am one of those Favre guys and thanks for the welcome. The only thing I got to say is that any player who is good enough to bring his own fans in bulk is probably worth having but God I do hate the Pats and have even when I solely followed the NFC and the Colts are not far behind. I have enjoyed this forum, its like fans on steroids, a lot of energy. I like that.
Gustoonarmy, You guys welcomed Brett with open arms when many of us felt he got screwed really bad by Packer management. I anticipate the Jets will gain many new fans and can only hope that many of them will stick around after Brett's gone. The Jets seem to have shown much more class when it comes to "releasing" players that have meant a lot to the organization and that class will go a long way if it continues to be shown. Another way of looking at this - is there any player on the Jets who you would follow to another team? I'd be interested in hearing from the Pack fans if they plan on supporting the Jets for good, for as long as Favre is at the helm or just for a short time. In other words, is this a protest vote or a full-time switch?
Would have rooted for Pennington if he weren't on a division rival. Now, he's just another Dolphin to hate! Maybe I'll root for Vilma on New Orleans.
I think anyone here that followed Favre here, and wasn't here before this month, would be lying if they said that Jets were their team for any reason other than Favre. It might be something that grows over time (like a lot of people nationally originally became Packer or Cowboys fans in 60s & 70s, because of Loambardi & Landry's teams), but that isn't gonna take hold in 3 weeks. Check back in a couple years for any meaningful answer. Just being honest. the precedent here is probably Montana to KC. I remember reading at the time there was a huge spike of subscriptions to KC newspapers in SF Bay area then, people followed him. But he was there just two years, even though they went to playoffs twice I doubt that many stayed on after he retired.
