Exactly. He can't outrun anyone and is taken down by a light breeze. He takes the hand-off and just sort of moseys around for a while, bumping into people one by one until he finds a hole. Once he finds the hole, he immediately gets taken down by the first defender he comes in contact with.

TJ has lost something since he left Chicago. I remember watching him play alongside Cedric Benson and TJ was so much quicker, nimble and explosive with excellent acceleration off his sharp, slashing cuts. He's lost quite a bit more than a step as far as I'm concerned. Leon is better but I'm afraid he goes down too easily. When he has a clear lane he can be great but I'm not at all convinced he can do the job as an every down back. We may not have much of a choice if TJ fails to show any signs of life. If that turns out to be the case, I think we'll see a committee consisting of Chatman and Leon.

Having said all that, our run blocking has yet to really come together.

for those that say Leon is too small to be a feature back:

    Brian Westbrook | #36 | RB | Philadelphia Eagles |
    Height: 5-10 Weight: 203

    Leon Washington | #29 | RB | New York Jets |
    Height: 5-8 Weight: 202

To get TJ to come here Tannenbaum offered a 4 year contract which was front loaded for the first two years. It pretty much guaranteed that he'd be on the roster for two seasons. And that deal is looking pretty bad right now.

If it weren't for the $$, the Jets would be better off cutting Jones and going with Washington and Chatham as the RB. It would be much, much cheaper and probably even more effective. But TJ's roster spot is basically un-cuttable this season.

ummm, westbrook and washington shouldn't even be compared, yes they almost the same size, but westbrook doesnt play small, hes capable of blocking effectively, washington isnt.

and the thing is, Westbrook has battled some injuries. whether or not those depend on his size, i'm not sure.

i think Leon should be the featured back since he's more of a playmaker, but i think Jones should get some carries to spell him and wear down the D, like Barber and Jacobs (when Tiki was there).
