http://www.giantsfootballblog.com/2008/08/22/antonio-pierce-on-brett-favre/ Giants middle linebacker Antonio Pierce talked with the media regarding Jets newly acquired quarterback Brett Favre. ?The New York Giants will welcome him to the Big Apple. Smart guys retire and stay retired, with a Super Bowl ring, of course. If you don?t have a ring, it doesn?t make sense to retire, I guess. That?s why he?s coming back.? Pierce was then informed that Favre won a Super Bowl ring in 1997. ?Yeah, but that was like 20 years ago. I don?t even think they had white gold then.?
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." For example:
why can't people understand that Favre came back because he wants to play football...there's really no ulterior motive...unless you include the fact that he wants to play and beat the Packers to a pulp....other than that...he just loves the game.
Take it how you want. You can say he was joking or that he was serious. Probabally joking. The guy has done more in his career than antonio will ever do. And he probabally had no clue he won a superbowl, which made him look stupid. Then he tries to make a joke with his bold comment because he probabally felt stupid. However, it showed no class
essentially that's exactly what happened he ended up feeling stupid so he came up with that shit .. Who gives a fuck about white gold they should have asked him in 20 years when there's a new kind of gold will he think his game meant nothing cause his ring isn't made of it ? Idiot..
With Strahan retiring and Shockey moving on, Pierce is filling the void of douchebag in the Giants locker room nicely.
Actually, white gold has probably been around for 100 years which should make him feel even more stupid. Edit. Haha, it was. http://www.artisanplating.com/faqs/whitegoldfaqs.html When was white gold first used? At the turn of the century a relatively unknown metal called platinum was being combined with diamonds by jewelers such as Cartier and Tiffany. The style became extremely fashionable and was quickly in high demand throughout Europe and the U.S. Later after WW I, 18kt. white gold alloys were developed in the 1920's as a less expensive alternative to platinum.
Pierce is a dope, I would love to have him on the Jets. The guy is a solid player and a defensive leader on one of the best defenses in football.
Favre should punch him in the head while wearing the ring. The impression it would make in his head would be a reminder of who in fact has the ring and who has a big mouth.
Antonio Pierce is a great player. I saw him on Conan O' Brien was I was at the show, seemed like a good guy. Hopefully Favre does not get roughed up too bad by the Giants D-line tonight.
So Pierce is telling us that sometime before 2027 the Giants Super Bowl 42 win will not mean much since it took place in days of yore.
What posters wrote such a thing? Osi Umenyiora is vastly overrated, but Justin Tuck is clearly better than the Jets ends.
I didn't realize that 2008-1997 was 20. As Mark Twain supposedly said, "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."
