http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=easterbrook/080819 Me-me-me-me-me. That's what you get with Favre. As a senior star, he has earned an amount of special treatment. But not an unlimited amount -- football is a team game. These days Terrell Owens is showing more team spirit than Favre; who would have believed that? You can say it's not Favre's fault that the media hyperventilate over him, but he strives to keep the spotlight on himself. Favre plays a humble, Southern boy routine. That's an act -- he knows the endless retirements and unretirements are a way to hold our attention. On the very day of the trade, Jersey/B general manager Mike Tannenbaum said, "We're taking things season by season. We're really happy to have him for the season." Favre's contract runs through 2010; either Tannenbaum has already agreed to release Favre at the end of the year, or he is already assuming Favre will stage yet another hissy fit of some kind in the upcoming offseason. Last season the Packers were 13-4, and they came within an overtime of going to the Super Bowl. How many Green Bay players from that team can you name, other than Favre? His constant media antics had the effect of denying recognition to his teammates. In June, Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported, "There is a substantial faction of younger players who are eager to play with Aaron Rodgers. Favre is at least a decade older than all but six guys on the roster. He dressed in his own locker room. He had minimal social interaction with teammates. Rodgers is one of the guys, and plenty of them are pulling for him." He dressed in his own locker room? In the past few seasons, Favre has been all about Favre, as if his teammates didn't exist. A man who wanted to maximize his own celebrity and income, at the expense of his teammates, would behave in that manner. That's what the Jets now have, and that's why his trade value was lower than Taylor's
"About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all." - Rita Mae Brown
This is like getting a free agent in baseball in mid season. Don't expect farve to be here for more than one season.
that is kind of messed up if he had his own dressing room. there is absolutely no place in football for perks to certain players, it never ever works out well.
Tuesday Morning QB..How original...I know MMQB is a common phrase, but Peter King has had that blog for a while. I think I will start a Friday Afternoon QB blog here.
BTW, the Jets trade was worth a 4th. With an escalating value up to a 1st. Most likely a 2nd or 3rd. Taylor went to Washington for a 2nd a 2010 6th.. The Skins are notorious for overpaying for FAs. If Favre was available before the skins blew there wad, he would be a redskin
Articles like this are peeps writing BS to keep themselves in the spotlight.....blah, blah, ...something about Favre will have people reading their junk. "You can say it's not Favre's fault that the media hyperventilate over him, but he strives to keep the spotlight on himself." --No way. The media nagged him relentlessly about his retirement. He gave them honest answers. Because he was undecided does not mean he was doing so to keep the spotlight on him. "Favre plays a humble, Southern boy routine. That's an act -- he knows the endless retirements and unretirements are a way to hold our attention." --Right!! Anyone that watched his retirement interview would beg to differ. If that was an act, the guy should be an actor and not an NFL QB. (you dickhead!) "Last season the Packers were 13-4, and they came within an overtime of going to the Super Bowl. How many Green Bay players from that team can you name, other than Favre? His constant media antics had the effect of denying recognition to his teammates." --If fans don't know who played for the Packers last season, it's their own fault. As a lifelong Packer fan I never, NEVER, heard Favre throw his teammaes under the bus for lack of play. I did hear him take the blame many, many times for a loss. Denying recognition to his teammates??? Oh yeah, Favre carrying Driver off the field over his shoulders after a TD is really denying a teammate recognition!! (again, dickhead!) "He dressed in his own locker room. " As a lifelong Packer fan this past year was the first I ever heard of this. And when I did hear it reported, I also heard that the reason for it was to get away from the media, who were relentless in hounding him about the good old retirement talk. Favre has ALWAYS been about the team. Articles like this are idiotic. And a true little story about a superstar that supposedly "plays a humble, Southern boy routine".... I'm from a fairly small city in Iowa. Last year our newspaper printed an article about a local, family owned golf cart buisiness, that sold a custom made golf cart to Favre. The owner of the company and a friend of his delivered the golf cart to Favre's home in Mississippi. They said when they got there, they fully expected security to greet them at the gate and tell them where to put the golf cart. Instead, they were greeted by Brett Favre. He gave them a tour of his place and talked with them for a couple hours. Sure doesn't sound like he was "playing a routine" that day!
Yes that I read in the GB papers. He also showered away from the other GBP players so that is part is quite true
TMQB is SUPPOSED to be funny, the problem is it never is. His big joke w/ the Jets is he calls them jersey B and the Giants jersey A when he talks about us. He's hysterical
1) that article was CRAP and clearly written to stir controversy such as the comments posted 2) If it's all true, who gives a S-? Favre is a hired gun, here for one year, maybe two, if thing work well..... that's it. This isn't some longterm project the JETS are expecting to carry the Franchise for the next decade
