It seems that after two pre-season games, the Jets' Offensive Line seems to be doing its job. The five starters seems to have cemented their positions but what really has me thinking about this subject matter is the potential quality of the back-ups.

I haven't been blown-away by the performance of the 2's and 3's and I'm not even sure who has the lead for the back-up spots between Jacob Bender (6'6"/315/23)Thaddeus Coleman (6'8"/308/23), Stanley Daniels (6'4"/320/23), Kyle DeVan (6'2"/306/23), Nate Garner (6'7"/318/23), Wayne Hunter (6'5"/303/27), Matt McChesney (6'4"/307/26), Will Montgomery (6'3"/310/25) and Robert Turner (6'4"/308/23).

The only thing that seems to jump-out is that this is a relatively young and inexperienced group with good size (average weight of 310+ lbs.). Other than that, nothing else.

    So under the current circumstances....

Who do you think will survive TC and why?

Who do you think is worth a spot in the Practice Squad?

    The current Depth Charts:

    Left Tackle:
    D'Brickashaw Ferguson
    Jacob Bender
    Thaddeus Coleman

    Left Guard:
    Alan Faneca
    Will Montgomery
    Robert Turner
    Stanley Daniels

    Center:
    Nick Mangold
    Will Montgomery
    Kyle DeVan

    Right Guard:
    Brandon Moore
    Jacob Bender
    Matt McChesney

    Right Tackle:
    Damien Woody
    Wayne Hunter
    Nate Garner

I think a team keeps 7 or 8 OL on the starting roster, so a lot of these guys get cut or are on the PS.

Garner - PS. Hunter, Bender and Montgomery will fight for the 2 reserve spots, with the loser either cut or on the PS. DeVan is gone. Daniels too.

    Full Roster
Wayne Hunter - most experienced backup OL
Will Montgomery - versatility of C or G
    Robert Turner - G or maybe C

    Practice Squad
Jacob Bender - very big but needs more work / future RT material
Nate Garner - very big but needs more work / future RT material

    Cut
    Stanley Daniels
    Kyle DeVan
    Matt McChesney

    ???????
Thaddeus Coleman - great feet but raw, small school guy

Not much depth particularly in both Tackle spots. Probably the most critical guy on the line in terms of depth is Woody because he can be shifted around a bit in case of injuries. But the depth of the unit isn't very comforting.

You would have to give an edge to someone who's listed at more than one position.
That would be Bender and Montgomery.

  7. Garner to PS- Bender, Hunter, Montgomery and Turner the back-ups

Hopefully there will be some quality OL's released before the season that we can pick-up to add some reliable depth into this unit.

Well I really like our offensive line so much, I feel they are going to be great. But I can see some BS happen and like Mangold will get injuried
