Have heard someone named Vinny Testaverde? He was what 43 yrs old when he took his last snap? Favre is just like Vinny except that he's better in his skills. Vinny can probably still play football if offered a backup job in the NFL. Favre seems to be in his prime the way he played last yr. I say he still has about 2-3 yrs left in him. 2 of them being good yrs and last one as a pedestrian/below avg season.
Guys, This is how I do it and it will save you a ton of dough. Wait till that player either retires,ie. Martin and pick up the jersey for under 30.00 bucks shipping included. Or like Pennington, is traded and again pick up the jersey for under 30.00 S/H included. You just have to pick guys who were impact players and who's legecy with the Jets will stand the test of time. Right now Penny's jersey's are half off at 40.00 bucks and there must be thousands still unsold. Guess what, if you always wanted one, they will be 20 bucks by the end of the season. To me if you can wait, this is the best way to purchase jerseys from the NFL and over time you will end up with a closet full of clasics....
I may buy one soon. When ever I see a Montana jersey 9 times out of 10 it is a KC jersey, so I am hopin for the same effect for Favre.
VT played til he was 44 but his best year ever was as a Jet in 1998 when he was 36 - ( about 3 years younger than Favre). Then in '99 he blew out a ligament but did return 2000/01 to post winning seasons. But Vinny had the big advantage of an excellent coaching staff that B. Parcels put together. The one Mangini has in place is a bit wet behind the ears. I don't trust Shottenheimer with the controls at this point. Semantics regarding 2 players ages does not equal the same results. VT was a question mark coming in, and so is BF!
Relax. He's allowed to have his opinion, and he has a bit of a point. I still might want a Favre jersey, but I respect someone buying a Harris or Rhodes jersey more.
fairly obvious. If you're over 12 years old you need to stop buying and/or wearing jerseys. Nothing looks more retarded than a fat, balding 44 year old man walking into a bar on a friday night wearing a fuckin joe klecko jersey...its assinine. And if you wear it to the game on sunday, youre also retarded. I dont wear a fuckin starbucks shirt when I go in to get my coffee in the morning. T-shirts are fine-jerseys are bsolutely moronic...oh and for the guidos who think they look good in them, you look like an orangutan
lmao. okay, fair enough for wearing a jersey out in public or to a bar on a friday night, but to a game or the like.. I think that's acceptable. No one other than the actual player looks 'great' in a jersey, but its the easiest way to support your fav player.. I have actually seen someone wearing a taco bell shirt.. walk in and buy taco bell. Now THAT is freakin ridiculous.
when vinny t was the starter? or even a few times when bolly filled in. yes, even he had a better passing arm.
I bought a jersey, because... I'm a huge Favre fan, not because of any bandwagon. Just because he's going to go in the HOF as a Packer, you won't buy his jersey? Is there some huge rivalry between the Packers and Jets that I don't know about? I'd wear a Montana, Elway, even... Walter Payton jersey (even though I'm a Packer/Jets fan), just because I have a lot of respect for those players.
I like your reasoning bomber, but coming off a pro bowl like season and still a question mark? To me, the question is a question mark...?
Vinny was also a workout machine. The year Chad and Fiedler got hurt and we got him off his couch, Bill Parcells said he had no doubt Vinny could come in and play, and we beat a 4-0 Tampa Bay team with him for one of our four wins. Favre may be a better QB but I doubt his workout habits are the same as Vinny's, hopefully they are good enough for him to be ready in Week 1.
I didn't know where to put this so I figured this is as good of a place as any. NFL shop has their jersey's 15% off. They have the white Favre for those that were looking. http://www.nflshop.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2237612&cp=2237411
I just feel that a veteran QB coming in off a great year at an age where it may not be as simple to repeat, to a team with different coaching strategies, that's a big question mark. Even the odds makers are leary of this - Jets are picked as -3 pt underdogs against a team that went 1-15 last year. Might have something to do with the 4-12 record, also. Jets have to prove that the FA signings make them a 'better team'.
Also, at 42, he was able to come off the couch again, fly to 'zona, and win a game WITHOUT having to know the playbook. He was a freak of nature....
