I'm anti-Broadway Brett (the nickname, not the poster)

OK, look. We have our QB hero, and his nickname is Broadway. I am extremely agitated by this "Broadway Brett" business. It's a slap in the face to our all-time beloved Namath. I love Favre, and am thrilled to have him. I just don't want to alienate Namath.

So if Favre needs a nickname, then let's give him one. I just don't want it to be swiped from Joe.

And this is not a knock on you, p.f.k.a WhiteShoesWillie.

(This thread is quasi-serious, folks. Let's have some fun with this. But really, I don't like it.)

I agree! I hate people using "ARod" for Aaron Rodgers as well. I mean, we've got a baseball player, and a tennis player named ARod. Do we need one in every sport? Besides, the guy hasn't even earned a nick name.

I'm good with Jet Favre. "Favre" alone says plenty.

It's simply a nickname. Joe's place in Jets or NFL history will never be tarnished by this.

I think Jet Favre is good enough. Not really into Broadway Brett either. He's a Super Bowl upset, a proposed Suzy Kolber kiss, and a finger wag away from that title.

Why you gotta hate Tony? </sarcasm>

I think people get too serious about nick names - they're for fun. After the 2002 season my jets friends and I referred to Pennington as "Chad Willie". No one ever told me they were offended by that.

Obviously Favre's personality is not "Broadway", but Broadway Brett kind of rolls off the tongue and he's the best QB we've had since Broadway.

It is a slap in the face of Favre who was the much better QB.

It be something more NJ related since the team has no ties at all to NY anymore.

We should just refer to him as Chad from now on.

Don't worry Tony...I think it's only temporary. I understand where you are coming from. But he is not, nor will ever be "Broadway". There's only one Joe Willie. I think people just needed a way to express their excitement for the best QB we've had since BJ...and that's the best they could come up with on short notice.

The legend of Brett Favre is already so much bigger than the man that it kind of already is a nickname.

Although I do like Bogota Brett:lol:
    And Winston's pretty funny too:lol:
If I gotta pick one, I'll go with "Not Chad", although I already call him Burt.

Broadway Brett is funny just because it goes against everything he is..

Jet Favre is probably my favorite though.

    :jets:

I'm just curious what the favre chant is going to be!!

I am not so much peeved by the swiped names, "Broadway Brett" or "A-Rod". But my take is, "It's been done already. Come up with something new." Usually warrants an eyeroll from me.

I like Jet Favre. That is really cool. :)
