He didn't bend them, he made a little mistake. The problem is the post police jump over everyone who makes a little mistake because it seems like the cool thing to do. Like I said before, unless someone does it frequently I don't see it as a big deal. Just delete or merge the threads. That's why the mods make the big bucks.
Did you guys realize the small connection Ratliff has to Favre/Green Bay/Rodgers? After attending Chico High School Ratliff went on to Butte College (2003-04) in Oroville, CA where he was the starting QB for 2 years following Aaron Rodgers, departure to Cal. While at Butte College he set the career record for TD's 35 and completions at 239 along with the record for Total Offense at 3,651.. Thought that tidbit was a little interesting
A little tidbit from Scouts.com on Ratliff Offering size and the arm strength to play at the next level, Ratliff must significantly improve his fundamentals to have any chance of being anything other than a practice squad player. Biography: Junior college transfer who took over starting duties as a senior, Pos:ting 58.3%/2,796/23/9. Pos: Nice-sized pocket passer with marginal skill for the next level. Patient, buys time for receivers and finds the open pass-catcher on the field. Sells the ball fakes, throws with an over-the-top delivery and puts zip on the short throws, getting the ball through the tight spots. Neg: Takes most of his snaps out of the shotgun and is slow dropping into the pocket when lined up behind center. Does not have a quick release. Long passes hang in the air. Indecisive when pressured and makes questionable decisions.
He happened to be right, there were three identical threads. I love message board caste systems.
He fixed the negatives against Cleveland. I guess it shows that if a guy works hard to show that he is more than a PS guy, he can do it.

With a strong arm and good mobility, quarterback Brett Ratliff has intriguing potential of his own. Like Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, Ratliff was hugely successful at Butte Junior College, before he signed with Utah two years ago. It took 11 games for Ratliff to earn a start for Utah in 2005, but the 6-3, 225 pound quarterback took full advantage in those final two games, throwing for 621 yards and 8 touchdowns versus only 1 interception in upsetting rival BYU and Georgia Tech in the Emerald Bowl. A nightmare performance against Boise State this season (8 of 27 for 51 yards, 0 TDs, 4 INTs) belied an otherwise strong senior campaign (2,796 yards passing yards, 23/9 TD to INT ratio). Against Tulsa in the Armed Forces Bowl, Ratliff flashed the potential that has scouts quietly intrigued. Passing accurately to all levels of the field, Ratliff showed both zip and touch when needed. He also ran for 31 yards on 9 attempts; though more impressively using this same mobility to buy more time in the pocket. http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,650220454,00.html Ratliff pleads guilty to misdemeanor, infraction By Linda Thomson and Pat Reavy Deseret Morning News Published: Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 12:07 a.m. MST University of Utah quarterback Brett Ratliff pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct in Salt Lake City Municipal Justice Court......
That is what we see now. The arm, accuracy (short and bombs), poise, and the mobility that buys time. One nightmare performance is going to happen. The kid had the potential, he was just so raw when playing against better competition. Take away the Boise State game and you have a 23/4 TD:INT, which is what you want to see in college - pure accuracy and no turnovers. I feel comfortable when I see this kid play and I didn't once really look at the footwork or body language and just think he's another depth player. I felt like it was okay that the game was in his control. Haven't felt that as a Jet for a few years. As for being drunk, I thought we had character guys on this team??? Good for him enjoying college.
Hell, if they gave medals for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, I'd have earned the Congressional Medal of Honor by now.
Ha ha. I thought I'd throw that last article on the wall for kicks. A beer ticket. We used to get those occasionally back in Massapequa Park. The kid reeks of underdog waiting in the wings. It could give those who wanted Flacco a slight ease of mind if he pans out. A slight reach but a reach none the less? Watching him in the pre-season game he was beckoning the coaches to send in the play. He was all over it. If this works out the Jets might have some trade value in Ainge or Clemens for the future for another position or draft picks. Of course that's looking ahead some. I see Brad Smith eventually dissappering.
Hell, he's damn-near invisible as it is. I've been waiting for a Brad Smith sighting all summer. Seriously, the Jets still have him listed as "QB" on their TC handouts, but he wasn't red-shirted the days I was there and never took any snaps that I could see. I think the Brad Smith "Jack-off All Trades, Masturbator Of None" experiment is just about over.
...and he has his own Blog... http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=92201515
I agree, it's too early to get crazy over Ratliff, but to say you keep them both, or get rid of Ratliff, is rediculous. Why would you get rid of a guy that's shown such promise? In the preseason game, the guy looked like a veteran, in the pocket.Granted, he was playing against the 2nd teamers, but he still showed what you look for in a QB. Poise in the pocket. All we keep hearing about TC, is how Ratliff continues to impress. Now we're seeing him get some time in practice, behind Favre. That in itself, tells you he's opening the eyes of the CS. IMO, Clemens has'nt impressed our CS/FO enough, or there wouldn't have been an open competition between him, and Pennington. This guy(Clemens) is still being faulted for the same problems he had last season.Reading defenses. At this point, given the game experiences he's had last season, would'nt you expect him to be a lot further along, then he's shown? I would.
Ahhh, Ratty just had a birthday. If he continues to make strong progress on the learning curve, we'll be talking about him s'more. If he stalls out or plateaus like Clemens has, that wont be good.
