IMO that is another biproduct of doing well in the preseason game- it was a confidence builder, and confidence is a big part of performance. I'm glad to see he is continuing to make a lot of good progress.
Every time I read a TC report and see that Clemens is struggling, it makes me soooo happy they traded for Favre. I'm not saying he will be a savior, but he is a huge upgrade at a position we desperately needed to improve. I know it's early, but I hope Ratliff keeps it up.
I am going to bet my money on Ratliff. He will pass Clemens to be #2 QB. I am rooting him to take over after Bertt Favre as Jets QB. He is really cool in the pocket.
If this keeps up through the preseason, then I hope the Jets trade Kellen to Chicago or Minnesota or maybe even Tampa for a future pick.
I wouldn't hold my breath. A) I don't think he's shown enough for them to be enticed into trading for him, and B) After Favre, he's the only QB on the roster with any sort of game experience. That counts for something.
I am aware of that, which is why I said only if the progression continues. One thing that Brett Favre brings to NY that it hasn't had in a long time is stability, for this season at least. You know even if he wakes up without arms he'll still stand in behind the center and try to throw the ball with his mouth.
Wonder if they're giving him time to prove he shouldn't be cut... That's the one with the shaved head...
Very true. You can talk about it here if you want: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=32506&page=21
Now that Favre is here and Pennington is gone, I expect those that tried to spin anything KC did as positive will fade into the night. The amount of spin put on his crappy performances when Chad was here was laughable. The guy is in his 3rd offseason, I've said it since Day 1, the guy just does not give me confidence as the future of this team. The Jets will absolutely draft a QB on Day 1 while Favre is here. T-minus 2 seconds until people start posting Bradshaw, Elway, and Simms's ROOKIE year numbers to compare to Clemens. Problem is, Clemens wasn't even a rookie last year
Look for the Jets to draft a QB in 2010. It would probably be better if they drafted one in next year's draft to get a season backing up undr his belt, but I don't like any of the QBs slated to come out in 2009, unless Stafford or Tebow comes out early.
How kickass is this Ratliff story right now? Young guy who's worked his way from practice squad fodder with good tools to a guy who's showing legit potential. He's got what it takes physically, it's just that confidence is going to have to last more than a wave. Like Clemens and any other young tri-state area QB, he'll have many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many doubters.
Hey SigmaXjet, are you still going to sell us that we "Shouldn't be impressed with Ratliff, that he's only a backup QB who won't make it out of training camp?"
