A Few More Things . . . A local (Green Bay) store (The Jersey Store), about 2 blocks from Lambeau Field, cannot keep up with the Jet Favre jerseys. They have 100 people on a waiting list! WLUK TV Green bay just did a spot on it. Just thought I'd let you know. Zippy P.S. Can you please kick the CHEATRIOTS, BAAAAAAAD this year? I'll be forever in your debt!:gpc:
It's definitely been strange seeing Brett in new colors, but it was time for a change. The Packers screwed him bad...I hope he can channel all and any of his frustrations on the Patriots in week 2. Brett Favre will work out fine in NY. He will give this team everything he has. I've been watching this man play for 16 years. Trust me, even if it's only for a year, we're all in for a treat. That said, I think he has a good 3 years left in him.
If by weird you mean seeing a man in green and white makes me this happy, then ya its weird. hmy: Can't wait to see him in week one. I have not been this excited comming into a season in a long time.
I actually said that to my girlfriend during the press conference introducing him. I think it's going to look so weird whenever he suits up for the first time. I mean, to this day, if you see a picture of Montana in a Chiefs uniform, it still doesn't look right. Or Jordan in a Wizards uni, which was just plain wrong.
i felt the same way. i felt "dirty" watching Favre's press conference. Gonna feel just as weird seeing Chad in those horrendous aqua/orange Dull-phin uniforms.
It's going to be real weird seeing Pennington in a Dolphins jersey. As far as Favre, I just smile everytime I see the press conference or see the pictures of him with Jets shit on. It's cool as hell. For the Jets to acquire him on my 21st birthday is fate gentleman. We're going to the super bowl.
Not me And I'll tell you why. Everytime I do a franchise on Madden I trade away my draft picks and get Favre! I'm used to seeing him in the Green and White.
What's a good word for being hopeful, satisfied but worried at the same time? Seeing Favre in a JETS uni is strange. You see him in his element though, finally! And I'm glad he's here and he is doing what he's always done. Simply play football. I mean this guy loves football and now he is an unspoken ambassador for the underdog. That in itself fits with the JETS. Kinda like the way he came up through college and eventually the NFL. He has always been overlooked and he went to GB and made history in a place where the name Vince Lombardi was taken and is placed on a trophy that defines the very best team each year representing the legendary coach who molded the teams that defined his legacy. Talk about a tall order. He lived up to the old ball coaches philosophy and brought a champion back to GB. You figure what else can a guy like that do? Why would he have to do anything else? But yet we find this literal natural refusing to quit. And on top of it he has the gall to continue it in a place other than Titletown? I immediately question his motivation. You look at him and listen to the interviews and that itself is normal, I mean we've seen others go through this. But you also see him having to explain himself like he has to justify his decision to keep playing. Brett was breed to play football. But yet when interviewed you almost sense the load that he imposes on himself. The guy that wants only one thing from this game and that is the joy and satisfaction of just playing the game but then you see him in a very calm fashion playing the media game which I don't think he has ever had to do. Not like this. Is he qualified? The key ring to the city? The mayor should be strung up. Brett is not a publicity stunt. He is the all All American Boy. But the wierdest thing about this is Brett is tempering all this attention with a calm reserve trying to stay focused on just being himself while fending off the sharks in the media. That's what worries me. He mentioned that he hopes by the end of the season that he hopes the decision he has made makes the whole NFL community, let alone the JETS fans, feel that he made the right decision?! Why? It doesn't match his personna. He is either out of his league or a genius in disguise. How can he say that he didn't know that the JETS were a 4-12 team before he got here? That's suprising in itself? But if genuine that could set Brett up for for a huge fall or for one hell of a mental block that could allows him to continue what he wants to do. It's like double reverse psychology. But what is that? What does it mean for us as fans? How long can you hold you breath? I'm not sure the word strange is the word we want to use when watching Brett Favre. Maybe sveral. Aprehensivly anticipating a miracle. Because he will fail miserably or do something that we have never seen and do it with the JETS. Is it worth 12 million? Well, it depends on who you ask now doesn't it? If you ask Brett he will simply say, I'm not garaunteeing anything but to give my best. If Brett gives his best this should be a great season and if he is standing on the post game podium in Tampa Bay then I can say it's weird to see Brett Favre holding the Vince Lombardi trophy for the N.Y. JETS.
