I figured we could put rumors and deals over the next couple days here. Apparently the Red Sox are looking into acquiring Tejada. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3508761&name=mlb_trade_deadline
If it's to the Marlins for Hermida, Tucker, and Stanton I'm thrilled, but if it's the other one, with just Bay coming back AND giving up a prospect, Epstien should be fired.
Man if Boston unloads Manny i'd be ecstatic... I think it's a bunch of bull and he goes nowhere...despite the bad blood. I hope though.
I hope he does too. I hate him. The scouting department has done a great job with the draft, but his trades and free agent signings have been 50-50 at best. It seems he's been more concerned with getting rid of guys Duquette brought in than anything else.
It was funny listening to Gammons on ESPN. The second Stanton's name was mentioned in a deal for Manny, Gammons called him a top 5 prospect in baseball.
I do like Gammons, but he can be sort of ridiculous sometimes. Stanton might not even by top 5 in Florida's organization. I did a double take at first because I thought they were talking about Mike Stanton the relief pitcher.
He's shown incredible power potential, but no player who's at low A and striking out at a 33% rate has no business being anywhere near top 5 prospects in baseball.
Yeah, he is better than David Price. Gammons has to soften the blow to potentially losing a major part of the BoSox team and make it look like it will be perfect...Can't really blame him.
I agree he's nowhere near top 5, but he's a big time power guy which is the one thing really missing in the Sox system outside of Lars Anderson. If they can get him and Tucker for the minors and Hermida for the Majors I'm all for the move. But if they get Bay or Burrell and nothing else while giving up prospects, I'll be furious.
I don't want to make it seem like I think it would be a bad trade for the Sox, just pointing out that Gammons is reaching new heights with some of his commentary.
