I don?t think that Baker will suit up in green and white again. That basicly leaves us with Franks and Keller. I?m very high on Kelle, but TE is not an easy position to adjust from College to the NFL and with him not beeing used to block in College, he has even more work to do. At least for this season, i think the Slot and even the Backfield are better spots to line him up than next to Woody. Franks could be anything from really good to horrible.

With the saints trading for Shockey, they might be willing to trade Eric Johnson, a solid TE, who could be very valuable for us if things go bad with Franks and Keller isn?t ready for to be a true TE, yet. This would also allow us to rely on and implement a lot of 2 TE-Sets without having to worry if we really have the personal for it and avoid a Kendall-Like mess.

Johnson is Injuryprone, but the price shouldn?t be that high.

Just some things that came to my mind today, what do you guys think?

I really believe that Franks by himself is an upgrade over Baker, so I don't see a need to add any TE's. That's not even considering what Keller may be able to do.

The Saints just resigned him. I doubt they would trade him. Shockey is injury prone too. Saints need all the depth behind him they can get.

I think they got about 5 TEs now. And Johnson might not be too happy to sit.

Johnson was already playing second fiddle to Billy Miller by the end of the season. If he wanted more playing time he would have went else where. Johnson is going to be sitting behind Franks and Keller anyway.

^^Sorry to briefly change the subject of the thread, but I have to compliment you, Phyr, on your sig. It makes me laugh every time I read it! Has Champ ever commented on it?

Keller is a faster stronger better version of Eric Johnson.

If Champ doesn't comment on the record about the New York Jets, why would he comment on my sig?

Eric Johnson has always been underrated IMO, and is one of my personal favorite players. He was good in SF and they only led him go because Davis fell to them.

I'm for it, but I'm sure there will be others to hit waivers over the next few weeks.

Eric Johnson would not be a bad idead at all (he's a very solid TE), However, from everything I've heard Mangini and Tanny say about Baker, I'm not convinced that he won't be on the team next season. If he is, then we have GREAT depth at that position (possibly the deepest TE class in the league) and the last thing we would need would be ANOTHER TE. (I happen to think that Franks is going to be a tremendous asset in the running game and still has good verteran hands and can make some plays in the short to intermediate passing game. )
