Does anyone know how today's 1:30 practice went? Ever since the Favre story broke everyone and thier mother has been focusing in on that but if anyone could post what is going on with the players who are actually on the team it would really help. Thanks.
I was going to start this same thread myself. Yesterday there were a half dozen reports within an hour after practice ended but today all I could get was Favre. Here's the link to Boland's blog. He's got a few nice tidbits. http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/blog/ Would love to get some info from any TGG posters. Last year the reports from Kurt, JetCane and others were way better than what the "pros" were giving us!
...and Cimini finally got around to posting his report from today's practice: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/
thats dissapointing to see Woodhead get hurt. Its tough to see any of the hopefuls get hurt before they even have a chance to prove themselves. Most of the guys are one shot and done guys. If Gholston gets hurt tomorrow (knock on wood) he will get another shot in the long run. Guys like Woodhead and Caulcrick are only going to get this one shot to impress somebody, and if that chance is taken away by injury, that is just a heartbreaker to those guys.
Hip Hip Hooray! Thank the Lord, Petro I am dying for your TC updates, and the zillion photos you take! Your reports are some of the most well written and detailed on the site, and add in the sheer number of photos, and well it makes my day, especially when I live a good 11-13 hours from camp, so it would be nuts to be able to drive down and check it out myself. However, I plan to one day get down to TC and experience the real world of Jets football for once.
The highlight of the day was Kellen Clemens? 59-yard completion to WR David Clowney, who was bumped out at the 1. Clowney is making some nice catches early in camp. One play later, from the 1, Clemens threw a bad passes that should?ve been intercepted by CB Ahmad Carroll. He dropped it in the end zone. Early in practice, Clemens hit rookie TE Dustin Keller on a nice seam route. ugh
NCAA career rushing leader Woodhead hurt at Jets camp July 25, 2008 CBSSports.com wire reports HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Danny Woodhead, the NCAA's career rushing leader, was carted off the practice field Friday with an apparent knee injury. The nature and severity of the injury wasn't immediately known, and the Jets' policy is to not discuss injuries. "We don't have an update yet," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. "Danny's been working hard, a lot of productivity out of him in college. He's a great kid." The 5-foot-7 running back, a rookie free agent from Chadron State who has already become an early training camp fan favorite, was injured late in practice and helped to the sideline by running back Thomas Jones, fullback Tony Richardson and a team trainer. He was attended to in a small tent on the sideline, where he removed his pads and jersey. After several minutes, Woodhead was carted off the field and into the.team's facility. While still a long shot to make the opening day roster, Woodhead received a lot of work during the Jets' first three training camp practices on offense and special teams. The native of North Platte, Neb., was undrafted -- mostly because of his size -- despite rushing for 7,962 yards in four seasons at Chadron State. Woodhead also compiled 9,479 career all-purpose yards, second-best in college football history, and was a two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner as the nation's top Division II player. Tough break for the kid. It's impossible not to root for this guy, even if he was a longshot. If it is a serious injury, I wonder if they could IR him and give him a year to recuperate and learn the intricacies of the pro game. Then give him another shot next year. Just a thought...because I don't like the sound of how he left the field.
that does suck and happens way too often in pro sports, guys who are really trying to live their dream get it taken away by injury. hopefully its nothing major but even a few days missed for a guy like that really hurts his chances. i would think they would just cut him and resign next year as a free agent in order to not have to pay him anything. thats a question though. these guys must be getting paid while they are practicing, so this would be an on the job injury, sooooo lets say the guy blows out his acl and is unable to perform does he get any compensation? its sad to say but i doubt they do with the crap job the players union in the nfl has done protecting people.
On a positive note, every single report I read coming out of the mini and training camps mentions David Clowney. Seems like this guy is really fighting for a spot on the team... I wonder if he plays special teams?
TC Reports I agree the training camp reports are great. You're doing a better job than the paid press. All they seem to do is rehash the daily press releases. Keep up the good work! I feel as if I'm at the TC.
Yea thats a real let down, but the snippet on Chad was alarming as well. Sounds like the Chad of last year. I really want one of these guys to step up and win the job. right now it seems like the are playing hot potato to try and see whom gets stuck with starting.
