gee, who could've called that one? only someone that's watched a mets game the past 2 years, guess that doesn't include our manager.
The guy is a lifetime .218/.293/.296 hitter against lefthanded pitching, compared to .257/.310/.419 versus righthanded pitching. Bringing in Schoeneweis made perfect sense - he just didn't do the job.
could even argue that walking votto was a mistake when i come to the bottom of the order of the reds, im not scared of any of them i am worried about giving valentin a chance to beat you in a big spot, the mets did, and he did.
How does it make sense? Valentin's career OPS against lefties is .141 points lower then against righties, sure but Show's career OPS against righties is .235 points higher not to mention .407 and .357 points higher the last 2 years. Bringing in Show when you know he's going to be facing a righty is probably the dumbest thing a manager can do in baseball.
I really don't know what that even means. The first four pitches were a strike swinging, a ball, a strike looking, and a foul ball. One more pitch like the first and third and he's out. He's a major league pitcher - of course he has pitches that can get out a batter who is a lifetime .218 hitter against lefthanded pitching.
