Nice move to counter Sabathia, but do the Cubs really need another Prior/Wood type?

Harden has always had high upside, and along with that has carried almost just as high a risk of injury.

At least Dusty's not around to destroy yet another young arm.

They just said on YES that he has a 0.68 ERA in 4 games against the NL this year. That's with an AL ERA under 3.

The NL Central is going to be interesting to watch in the second half.

Oh yes, yes, yes. Happy days.

Gallagher it's a shame to lose, but I don't think he's a slam dunk prospect. Donaldson is nothing much and Murton & EPatt are AAAA players, at best, yo-yoing between the bigs and AAA for all time to come.

Think it's a bit silly to class Prior and Wood together. One is a Cubs legend who has fought like hell through injury to become a dominant closer, the other is a pussy-assed crybaby.

OK, competent. Still, he's a world apart from Prior, who's just a prick.

Good trade, risky but the Cubs seem to be going for it.

I agree there's a risk over Harden's health, but at least we haven't mortgaged the future on it.

But both have been injured a lot, as has Harden, which was my point.

True, but Woody and Harden have come back, Prior has just sat back and watched the cash roll in.

great trade, but my question is why did the A's make this trade? They are still very much alive in the wildcard race. Its like they are just throwing in the towel??

That was my thought when I first heard they were shopping players. I don't know. That's a really weirdly run organization.

This is what Oakland does to stay competitive.

Trades a great player for 3-4 prospects, one of those prospects becomes a great player.... lather, rinse, repeat.

Harden had stacked some good games up without getting hurt, so it was time.

And there was a rumor that Harden's velocity was down a little in his last start. Beane doesn't want to wait for him to get hurt again.
