CLEVELAND (AP) -- Authorities say a man with the same name and date of birth as Baltimore Ravens cornerback Derrick Martin was cited for drug abuse after he was found in possession of suspected marijuana at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Cleveland police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho said screeners discovered three bags of suspected marijuana while searching the man at a security checkpoint Saturday night.

Stacho said police are testing the substance to determine whether it is marijuana. He said the citation is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a $100 fine.

Martin was a sixth-round draft pick in 2006 out of Wyoming.

    Really a nobody ...
The NFL should just legalize weed already.
its not performance enhancing .so just do it...save some suppensions for some real hardcore stuff like the boom boom.

It's illegal so it kinda has to be banned. Should pot be legal...yes, but that is a different story.

I don't see why the NFL can't adopt baseball's policy and only suspend players for testing positive for stuff considered more harmful than weed. This happens a few times every year, and every time I still don't get why the NFL needs to suspend players for hitting the bong.

And btw, how the fuck do the cops not know whether or not it's weed? What the hell is "suspected marijuana".

I think a good argument could be made, maybe not publicly-politically, but more-so academically, and behind the scenes to the NFL for at least not testing for it.

How many of these roided-out freaks self-medicate and calm themselves down with the ganj? I'd be willing to bet a lot. It really would just be PR damage control for the NFL if they silently allowed it (aka...didn't put it on the banned substances list).

Odd. Why can we rate this thread and not others?

you can rate others. Rating threads is disabled in the BS forum, it seems, and others too, but not in the NFL forum.
