NEW YORK JETS: Look for OLB David Bowens to contribute more in his second season with the team. Bowens has lost speed but makes up for it with anticipation and savvy. The Jets have been giving him some reps inside this spring so they can get him on the field more in 2008.

Interesting...So may be the OLBs really can be interchanged with the ILBs, although I'd guess not vice-versa. I'm all for versatility...or was that Mangini?

Exept for some Blitz-packages maybe, I doubt we?ll see Bowens Inside, he just isn?t made to play there.

If he really lost speed, he might not even make the Roster, I mean he never was really fast.

with all this OLB/ILB interchangeability, it should do wonders for our Muddle Huddle, at least until someone decides to zone-block us.

I think Bowens will be Pace's backup. Pace is supposed to provide a pass rush, but he's also going to be taking a lot of snaps at ILB.

Sir, you can't zone block David Harris.

While that may be true I am skeptical Pace will provide a reputable pass rush all by himself. Only because there is no evidence. His ability to sniff out plays and cause disruption is his calling card. He has played multiple positions with the Cards so I could see him moving around as well. But with the addition of Jenkins and Gholston and the presence of Shaun Ellis, there is a chance he could come free due to pressure being covered elsewhere by the offensive backfield, in spite of his lack of pass rushing ability.

I'll believe Bowens playing much inside LB when I see it.

I didn't feel like I saw alot of him last year and he was backing up BT and Vic Hobson.....he might not even have seen the field for the most part this year if they don't get a little more creative.

I'm ok with the decision. We do seem to have a little more talent with our backup OLB's then with our backup ILB's so moving things around a bit sounds like the best way to make sure have the best guys out there at any given time.

Oh yeah one more thing, to bad they didn't consider this some with Hobson who seems like a better fit there....I guess we have to chalk these things up in the 'lessons learned' category.

i can see him as a ml maybe, but he's still a lineman,

i like our core of lb's, could be one of the best for years to come,

this group can be more formidable than m.lewis, m.jones, and b.houston
which was our best lb crew ever

Our best LB core was Lance Mehl, Stan Blinka, Bob Crable.

    Gholston, Harris, Barton, Pace

That's gonna be so fucking fun to watch, I can't wait. Revis and Rhodes should have a field day out there with all of this pressure, I drafted the Jets D in fantasy.

You're right, I guess Gholston will start out on the bench as a situational OLB. I didn't mention Thomas, but I should have.....I think he's primed for a big bounce back year.

I would love to see Bowens get a shot at ILB. He was the 2nd best LB on the team last year.

He's 6'3", I can see a lot of guards just diving for his knees. I doubt he sees too many reps outside of blitz packages.

I would say it was Baker, Atkinson, and Grantham.
