I wasn't being a smartass with that comment. I just meant that it's ridiculous that rather than get to enjoy a product on the field, you guys have to deal with ridiculousness from management over and over. Don't lump me in with the trolls. I think I've earned that much on the Baseball forum.
I didn't stab Willie in the back...Willie fell backwards upon my blade. Involuntary offense my bruthas.
I didn't mean to be a smartass either, it does suck to root for a team full of underachievers. I can live with rooting for a bad team but it pisses me off to no end when a team can't live up to its potential. To be perfectly honest, I am far more bothered by the product on the field for the last year plus than I am about the way the right decision(firing Randolph) was handled, even if it was handled really poorly. As for the comments by Manuel, it was obviously in a joking manner. Right now listening to Manuel speak is quite refreshing compared to the robotic style of Willie. It probably wont have any impact on this season but I have more hope for a turnaround now than the day before Willie was fired. Through it all, the Mets are only 5.5 games back.
I hear you. Sorry, I was only getting this story from this thread, so I didn't know it was meant in a totally joking manner. I thought it was the type of thing you hear about coming from the White Sox locker room. Your point about the disappointment on the field rather than the office is more what I meant. Who wants to watch Ringling Bros. off the field, and The Big Apple Circus on it? Amazingly enough, neither the Yankees or the Mets are far out. The Yankees are 5.5 out as well (only 4 in the L column).
I admitted I misunderstood that it was a joke. I originally thought it was a Guillenesque rant, which would be embarrassing. Beyond that, it would be on top of the circus that's been going on up top lately, which was where my statement stemmed from. Again, I wasn't trying to stir the pot.
I thought this was hilarious. Manuel's a nice refreshing breath of fresh air from the mundane Randolph.
