i've got 4 seats in section 111, the 2nd and 3rd rows from the field. my seats are on about the 45yd line. i guess my psl's will be about $20k. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKIN' KIDDING ME! Like one of the previous posters said,"goodbye real fans, hello corporate america"
Exactly...so for being a long time fan, sticking with the team for years, and being able to upgrade seats due to seniority...we're going to STIFF YOU with a nice big fat PSL! Thanks. I guess I should enjoy the Mezz for the next two years, because IF i'm lucky enough to get the privaledge to pay the Jets for my freaking chair, I'll be back to the Uppers (not that there is anything wrong with the Upper Deck)...But we shouldnt be punished for being long time season ticket holders. It's a DISGRACE
Not virtually every new NFL Stadium. When the Kraft family built Gillette Stadium, the decision was made not to charge their fans PSLs. Their rationale was that, being former Season Sticket Holders themselves, they knew the financial burden PSLs would have on us. They decided that Club Seats and Corporate Boxes were the way to go to raise the extra cash they needed. Although my out-of-pocket cost for my Season Tickets is higher that most, if not all of the stadiums in the NFL, I'm still financially way ahead of those fans elsewhere who were obligated to purchase PSLs to become a STH.
Once again ,I will point out Bob Kraft Did charge PSL`s he just structured them differently at the time B.K. was decideing on PSL`S the avg. PSL WAS ONLY $2,500 for the 50 yard line seats ,so lets say you basic Patsy fan had 4 tickets that would be $2,500 X 4 tickets would be a $10,000 1 time paid PSL for the 30 year life of the stadium ($10,000 total ) what Bob did was raise ticket prices over the next 2 years $70 (even more since then ) so that was a $70 per ticket PSL x a min. of 10 games per year that turns into a $700 per year PSL FOREVER we will say 30 years life of the stadium ,that is $700 X 30 years is a $21,000 per ticket PSL KRAFT ENDS UP MAKING TWICE the cash and everyone thinks he`s a saint cause he didn`t charge fans the normal PSL so $21,000 X 4 tickets is a $84,000 total PSL instead of $10,000 up front ,kraft gets more bucks it`s easier for the avg. joe fan to pay ,this is what woody should be doing
Correct, ticket prices were increased when Gillette Stadium was built. Once your new stadium is built and you get charged the PSL, won't ticket prices from the old stadium to the new stadium for comparable seats also increase as well? If that happens, and it probably will, your logic is flawed, isn't it? If PSL's and ticket prices both occur, that's a double whammy, isn't it?
This is true. Plus, the seats will be worse because they will be further away from the field. More sideline space, I would imagine.
My logic isn`t flawed because back then it was one raise ticket prices bigtime or hit folks with the big one time PSL``s as things things has been ALLOWED BY the NFL to escalate now they are trying to hit fans/rip fans off bothways just as if you look at how PSL`S startted the were supposed to cover the Balance of the building of a stadium that (A) Naming right money didn`t cover (B) LUXOREY BOX money didn`t cover (C) the cash that the NFL through in ,fans were not supposed to pay for & build the entire stadium....My Senter & congressman is just dying to hear about my Tax idea`s on these huge signing bonus` the players making millions of dollars are getting not to mention a good size extra tax on all this naming right money ,they should no better then to get me mad
..cept you've changed your tune on PSL talk. Used to be, "Why are people talking about PSL's? Nowhere have I seen any indication that the Jets are going to charge PSL's! You're all wrong!!!!!!" Now it's, "Yawn, I'm bored by PSL talk" Looks like you had to audible at the line of scrimmage there, Royal Tee.
I got my survey via e-mail today and just completed it. I pretty much checked "0 chance" for most of the PSL options. In the comments section I tried to articulate that, even as a lifelong Jet fan, most of the options they presented were unrealistic for me. The new place looks like it's going to be top notch, but I have no idea who is going to be able to afford to go there.
No, Where did I say I'm Bored by it? I said "Wake me When It's over". IOW... It's still- the sky is falling over reactive nonsense to me. Seems you misunderstood my post. But that's ok. and BTW, You can't use "" and say I said something if I didn't. Please reserve the "" for an actual quote. Oh, and just for the record, the source (hpolsurvey or whatever) is what? Harris poll? Well where the original link go? seems it's gone all of a sudden. Show me proof, then I'll change my tune. AORN my tune is still the same....which has always been: Stop Crying about PSL's as there is no proof. We'll cross that bridge IF we ever get to it.
Are you seriously suggesting that multiple people on the board are colluding to make up a fake survey we got? What exactly would our motive be, to scare people here? Feel free to continue ignoring the elephant in the room. But consider doing it without disparaging the people here who are interested in talking about it. No one put a gun to your head and forced you to come into this thread.
I agree with asbcheeks...I'm not trying to start a conspiracy, nor any rumors. I'm actually trying to find out where the info was gained from the original post which was days ago...I agree that ignoring a PSL is silly...but we all want to know "what do we owe you, fine Jets organization?" Now whats funny is that I just saw a video of the Dallas Cowboys new stadium....which cost $1 BILLION dollars. They will be hosting the 2011 Super Bowl. But somehow we have a stadium that cost $1.8 BILLION dollars, and we don't even get a retractable roof?????? And ZERO chance of ever seeing a superbowl in the NYC area?? What kind of sense does that make?? Is the cost of building in Dallas really TWICE what it cost in NYC???
yeah yeah just ignore it until it kicks you in the face thats the way to do it. the only thing jets fans can do and luckily this doesnt affect me is bitch and complain and make noise. and then sit there and hope that someone who makes the decisions hears them. granted they probably wont but i can understand why people would want to know about whats going on with psls and to complain to wherever they can complain to.
I got the survey yesterday. Started it, but haven't completed it yet. I was finally offered tickets this year after being on the waitlist for many years. I've been buying seats from a friend for maybe 12 years now, and already bought them from him this year before the Jets came through. After thinking about it, I finally decided to defer my Jets offer for this year. Two folks from the Jets and someone here told me I could do this. The process is so disorganized, I figure there's about a 50-50 shot it will work. But I digress. Yeah, there's like 2000 more seats overall in the new stadium, but I think like 9-10k less general admission seats (I'm going from memory here, so I may be off). But looking at those prices, who can afford those club seat and better psls? That's freaking ridiculous!! I honestly think if they choose the high end of those ranges that like 90-95% of those seats are going to have to go to businesses. That will push those with good seats now to compete with schlubs like me for the bad seats with doable (but still shitty) PSLs. I still strongly suspect I have two years left going to games. I'd happily pay to continue to go, even if it's more expensive. But those prices are just stupid, and I don't think I'll even have a chance to compete for the nosebleeds since I have no seniority. One more point - no matter how much they make these stupid things cost, there will still be eBay and scalpers and such. So I'll still be able to go, just won't be as nice as having season tix.
I think this is it ,I think the PSL bill will come out this summer & will probably give you a few payment options A,B,C,D,E.... to choose from & you will probably have to have made your choice & sent in your non-refundable deposit to lock in your choice for the new seats in the new stadium probably around the same time 2009 season ticket money is due ,I.M.H.O.
Exactly my thoughts. Those of us who have been going for years know the market for Jets tickets, especially when they're bad and it's cold. Often I have a hard time digging up one person to go with me for free if my wife bails on a cold game at the last minute. They can dress up the stadium with fancy shit, but I still can't see a cold Jet game being that tough a ticket to get, seasons or no seasons. That's why I don't think I'm going to lay out too much for a PSL. If it's reasonable I might bite the bullet one time to keep my tickets, but I'm not forking out thousands of dollars for the privilege of eating hundreds of dollars worth of tickets for a 2-9 Jet team.
I understand his cuckoo speak. It's why we're good friends. He moved to NJ from the projects, so he's a little confused by the magnitude of that in the first place.
I don't know if I got the same survey as everyone else.......but basically it asked for comments before I got to any survey or specific questions.... so I said in my comments that I would under no circumstance pay any psl over and above the cost of the tickets themselves. My reasoning to them was as other have mentioned, I don't know of any other stadium that there are 2 organizations sharing the costs.....that combined with the fact that they do get some help from the league as well, the expected general increase in ticket prices, the increased revenue from suites, the naming rights etc.....all of this ought to provide enough financial backing to help both organization pay down their construction debt in a timely manner while, at the same time, I'm sure, recognize what would be an acceptable profit margin on their operations.
