I agree..........I'd definately take him on the cheap....he's a leader...a vet , and still a DAMN good player!
You hit it 'right on the head here', Jets' shoulda re-signed Hobson & put him at ILB...just like the Pats' did...duh!!!:shit:
I always thought Hobson would be a better ILB than an OLB. The problem here seemed to be timing. Hobson’s contract was up at the end of 2007 making him an UFA & Eric Barton is in the final year of his contract this 2008 season. If anything, this FO has shown a tremendous desire to bring in their “own” players, rather than working with Bradway/Edwards people. And I think they are tired of filling positions with mediocre players. We must admit that Hobson was mediocre at best ---- I didn’t see anyone beating his door down when FA opened in March. So it seems like the FO is riding out the storm for 1 more season, say goodbye to Barton & then focus on finding a solid 3-4 ILB in 2009 FA or 2009 draft. The only thing that didn’t make a lot of sense to me was keeping Barton at his $3.2 million salary for this season when the PATS only gave Hobson a 1yr deal at $645,000.
Texans set to sign LB Colvin 1 hour, 22 minutes ago HOUSTON (TICKER) ?The Houston Texans are expected to sign linebacker Roosevelt Colvin, according to multiple reports Monday. Colvin played his last five seasons with the New England Patriots, winning a pair of Super Bowls. Last season, Colvin missed six games with a foot injury and finished with four sacks. A club spokesman could not confirm if a signing was imminent, but did say Colvin had recently visited the team. In Houston, the 6-3, 250-pound Colvin would bolster the pass rush opposite defensive end Mario Williams, who collected 14 sacks last season. Colvin, 30, has registered 52 1/2 sacks in 117 career games. He spent his first four seasons with the Chicago Bears before signing with New England.
