From NYJ.com The guy is bigger than Nuge but his career long is shorter....and I know the kicker for the TiCats right now is Nick Setta, the former ND Irish kicker. So if he can't cut it in the CFL.....I dunno.... The New York Jets have signed free agent kicker Mark Myers. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum. Myers (6'2", 195) played in three games in the CFL for Hamilton in 2006, hitting five of six field goals, including a 44-yard game-winning kick vs. Calgary in his debut. In four seasons at Florida Atlantic University (2001-04), he set 17 school records while connecting on 43 of 59 field goals (72.9 percent) with a career long of 53 and scoring a school-record 230 points.
He's good till next season I agree. Being a 2nd round kicker pick he should be golden for 10 more years. I still think its BS we picked a kicker in the 2nd round. He should be docked pay for missed kicks.
...and 9 of 65 on touchbacks on kickoffs...and didn't kick a field goal over 43 since week 5. The coaching staff knows his limitations and so do we. He is a serviceable kicker, nothing special, except maybe under 35 yards, like a treadwell without the Daluiso. Definitely not worth a 2nd.
check it. u gotta be top of ya game out there each day bro. nugz play tuff but iffa canada ballski gon be top grade quality then u put 2kickiz on field 4jets. less u got herpes then i could see u worryin bout otha shit asides gametime shit.
C'mon dude...already addressed that point in my post (it's right after the sentence you chose to highlight): The fact that he only had one attempt beyond 43 yards just underlines my point. He is limited beyond that and the CS knows it. This isn't being a darksider, just being realistic. He has the accuracy, I'll give him that, but between the KOs and the fact that the CS doesn't ask for much over 40 yards should tell you something. Hence the Treadwell comparison. Nugent = Money < 40 yards.
What I still don't understand with Nuge is coming out of college they said he had one of the strongest legs scouts have ever seen. He was kicking field goals in the area of 60 yards. Now granted the NCAA football is different from the NFL one but can it really make that big of a difference? Perhaps it has something more to do with the Meadowlands and that infamous "swirling wind"?
Nuge really worked good last offseason, and it showed on the field. This is probably a little motivation, for him to work hard again.
We attack our Kicker who is consistent and added distance on his Kickoffs this season? He always misses in week 1 and 2, and then from there on out he is almost automatic- he only misses in high wind and from 40+ out, like every other kicker in this league. Nuge is fine.
Nuge is probably okay but he was a clasic Bradway/Herm pick. Wasn't that the off season we were a Ty Law and a kicker away from a SB let Feguson, K-Mack and Becht walk and before TC named Adrian Jones the starting RT? Nuge either steps up or will be purged.
