Are you guys fans of press conferences or football teams? Press conferences in the NFL are to mislead, pure and simple. People who tell the truth about what they are going to do in a Press Conference are complete morons who deserve the merciless beatings that they have graciously made possible. When a coach or GM opens his mouth in front of a camera he is dealing with the enemy. The fact that you might be watching is immaterial. This coach / GM doesn't need to sell tickets, he needs to tell a baldface lie that misdirects his competition in how they decide to play his team. Fans are cannon fodder for press releases; they are the so-called excuse for the publicity, but the real jeopardy that the CSs are dealing with comes from their peers in the business. You guys that take a press release at face value and are enraged when it doesn't speak the truth, well, I think you should buy more marshmellows in the am so that you can gum up your mouths and hurt your hearing in the process. I mean...Really, Guys!
i agree with that. too often in the past 4 decades, the jets have talked a much better game in the press than they played on the field. bellichek was right when he said " no one ever talked more and won less than steve gutman". i'd rather they do their talking on the field, and said nothing in the press. tuna was right when he said " you are exactly what your (w/l) record says you are".:metal:
It's their newness. Mangini and Tanny will one day learn that the media and the fans DESERVES to hear everything they do. I want to hear who we're targeting, how much we plan to pay them, who will be cut, who will start, what D front we'll use that week, exactly how many times they expect to blitz that week, what both of their wives are cooking for dinner, if he likes when she cooks, how many times a week they fuck their wives, who they want to draft, and every other FO issue. This really is a legit reason to attack them. Shows that they're gutless.
Reminiscent of Herm days, eh? I'd take Mangini/Tannenbaum press conference over Herm press conference any day of the week - and twice on Sundays.
Go root for Kansas City Herms. You'll find everything you need, starting from Club Ed to just about every little details that might not even be relevant to football.
that was quite humorous. but you guys cant tell me what they did with vilma last year wasnt annoying. everyone knew that he was out for the year, but they wouldnt even say which knee it was that he hurt. they are a bit on the annoying side of dont say anything at all, ever about anything or you might die. im full of side notes today, i wonder what parcells said to his gm after he made that comment about the first pick improving the offense, willing to bet he body slammed him in his office. that type of thing is surely what you dont want to do.
I think, you can't even spell the coaches name correct and your opinion is (in my opinion) is idiotic
I am kind of surprised that a lot of you Jets fans don't see things as I do, so let me raise a few points: The press conferences and media relations are part of the job. Do you want to judge the performance of your coach/GM? Then watch them on TV. Watch everything they do. Everything is a part of the job, so the way they do their TV appearances is as much a part of their jobs as dradting players. For my two cents? These guys suck at doing media relations, and it lends fuel to the fire that these two guys might not be capable leaders o the franchise and even worse, Woody Johnson's complete faith in them might be a tip-off that he's a disaster as a football team owner. Their "performance on game day," as we hear relentlessly (in favor of Mangini & Tannenbaum, who are supposedly hard workers etc.) is reportedly a result of all the work they put in during the off-season and during the week's practices, etc. etc. etc. Well, that did not work out last year, did it? So IMHO, we need to watch these guys a bit more carefully. Do you like being treated like an idiot? Do you like a pat on the head and the old: "Don't worry, everything is under control!" from the management of the team you root for? Are you satisifed with management who figure that fans are gullible and malleable? And that you'll pay for Personal Seat Licenses, and increasing ticket prices? Welcome to the Tangini era, since this seems to be how they think. I think these two guys are a disaster. The fact that we seem to have a pretty good football team without a decent QB is a scary thought. And the fact that they figure all the fans will pony up big bucks to support a bunch of losers on the field is another depressing thought. But then again--we're all Jets fans, right? So a little losing doesn't bother us that much... Or does it?
I understand what is being said about certain things that aren't said that really don't matter. For instance, when we found out that Vilma was injured, we hardly knew anything, including not knowing which knee he hurt and was going to have surgery on. Honestly if the guy is not going to play the rest of the season, does it really matter which knee he is going to have surgery on..it's not like it's going to be kept a secret. Also, I know everyone loved to bash on Herm here, but honestly I thought he had some of the best press conferences especially when dealing with getting into the playoffs..
Someone wake me the next time we win or lose a game by the press conference. If you feel the need to get entertained by idiots talking, try any sports talk radio.
You're missing the point. But then again, since you're into "Phish," you're obviously too stoned to care.
Losing bothers me. But what bothers me now is that you have been a TGG member for about 20 months now, but you're still a bench warmer. And now that you actually posted something, its worthless and crap...Sorry buddy but thats just my opinion versus yours. I'll tell you why I said that by breaking up your post... How do you judge the performance of you coach/GM? So you are saying by uttering a few more words, their performance increases? I see coaches walk out on the media almost every game week. None of them get the pink slip of doing so. Also, it that was true, Tuna would have been out of NFL many yrs ago. I worked really hard at my work in the last two yrs and was one of the two contenders for a promotion. I did'nt get it. You know why? cuz only one person (team) gets that promotion (win), not both. Are you obligated to do so? Last time I checked, it was totally upto you to decide to pay that. It might have changed now so would you please take the time to let everyone know about it. See the first paragraph.... Coaches, as the name suggests, are paid to COACH and win. They dont have a clause in their contracts that state that if they do more than 5 press conferences a week, they will get a $50K bonus each week. We are the fans. All they need to show us is their performance on the field. If that performance is good or bad, it does'nt matter what you said in the press conferences. You are not judged based on the number of press conferences or the quality. You are judged solely on the number of games won. Close games only mean a loss if you dont win them. It does'nt matter if you lose on a time expiring field goal.
Knowing which knee it was would've made you feel better? Its not like a QB dislocating his shoulder. In that case, it is very important to know which shoulder it was. When it comes to knees, the only ones I can think of are Ps and Ks. It was irrelevant in Vilma's case. Do you care about 'irrelevant' info? If so, do you care what Mrs. Mangini actually did cook for him, or how many times they did it? or whats their favorite position? :rofl2:
I feel sorry for you mate. I wish you were friends with Mangini so he could have told you will start at the QB position. Who is going to get cut from the rookie camp. Who is getting a raise and who is going to be in his dog house. If this regime starts giving out all this info, such as who will be cut, the morale in the locker room will die. If they tell you who will start at any position, there could more morale issues. If you knew you were going to be in his dog house, your performance will take you there faster than before. If you know you are not going to get a raise, you would simply ask for a trade.
^^^ I remember watching Herm post draft interview. He said "my wife gave me a list of 7 players that she wanted on the team. I was able to get 5 of them so thats pretty good. She'll let me in the house now." Dont tell me his wife was doing the scouting while he was busy giving out game plan info to the press. Did'nt that make him look like a fool?
