Hey guys, So my friends and I have sort of taken on a tradition. We go to at least 1 road trip for a jets game every season. This season we are going to see the Titans game in Tennesee (sp?). Quick question though, Has anyone been in that area? Gone to see the jets play there? (they opened up the season there 2 years ago) . I guess any info would be great. food, hotel, tickets, etc. Thanks Guys
I think I'm going to this one too. Don't know anything about Nashville though. I always use Craigslist for away game tickets. nashville.craigslist.org/tix
thanks guys. 17a, i feel jetaways are too expensive. I usualy price out their trips compared to mine, and i always save a few hundred.. asbcheeks, you can trust craigslist like that? have you have success in the past?
Never been to Nashville. Always wanted to go though. Music Row is a must. World famous country, jazz, and rock clubs and bars. Musicians just show up at some of these places and play. Supposed to be some fantastic restaurants. You can walk down the street and have your choice of dozens of places. Google "Music Row", or "Music Row Bars", or "Music Row Restaurants." I just did, ton of stuff.
that does look really cool. i cant wait to go, hopefully a few more ppl will go down, and we can get a tailgate
Just got back from Nashville, was only there for about a day on business but was able to explore a little. You will want to stay downtown, i think there was a hilton, right near the strip of bars. The stadium is just over the bridge and loked walkable. I stayed at the Sheraton which is also close and was a nice hotel. If you have any other questions please let me know.
For Pittsburgh playoff game in '04 I met the guy at his tailgate and paid him then. For Philly '03, Miami '05, and Dallas '07 I paid through paypal and was very explicit in my description of the transaction so that if he screwed me over I would have plenty of email evidence to bring to paypal and elsewhere if necessary. No idea if I would have had any standing for something like that (paypal does have some protections as far as I understand) but I treated it like a legit business transaction, emailed back and forth a few times with the guy to get a feel for him (they were all normal ticket holders and not scalpers as far as I could tell), and was comfortable sending him the money first. Haven't been burned yet by craigslist, but its always good to be careful.
thanks asbcheeks. I am going to look into this. If all else, i can just go on stubhub, and pay a little extra. If anyone on the board has or will have extra's let me know. ( i know no one has yet, since tickets arent out)
Yes i think they were both walkable. The stadium is on the other side of the river, there are at least 2 bridges and i think you can walk over at lease 1.
Nashville is great. I am actually planning on taking a trip this season as well. It's a gorgeous drive from North GA through the mountains. In fact, the Atlanta Jets Fans club is taking a trip there as well. http://atlantajetsfans.com/atlantajetsfans/?page_id=13 Hopefully we'll have a respectable tailgating party before the game.
Anyone know the definition of a Tennessee virgin??? An 8 year old that can out run her brother!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That's probably not that far off. I just read today how Gretchen Wilson, the country singer, is just now getting her high school diploma. This will remove her from the list of the 20% (yes, twenty) of people in Tennessee who never received a high school degree. Oh yeah, and she did it to show her 8 year old daughter that you can't get ahead without an education (she's a millionaire).
I go to school in nahsville, the stadium is out on the outskirts of the city I would recommend staying in a hotel downtown and taking a cab out to the stadium unless you plan on tailgating. There is nothing at all near the stadium all the bars/nightlife/tourist attractions are downtown about a 15 minute drive from the stadium.
Hey Hofstra Jet - I live in Nashville. If I'm not mistaken, its a November game this year (right before Thankgiving). If it were earlier in the year, I would suggest staying somewhere on Music Row to get a cheap hotel and have access to a pool. But that late in the year, it should be pretty warm but maybe not swimming weather. So, I agree with the sentiment that you should stay downtown (there is a Sheraton thats pretty nice). From there, you can grab a bite to eat the morning of the game and then walk to the stadium. Most of the Titans fans actually park downtown and just take the access bridge to the Coliseum (now LP Field). Other than that, you should try to hit some of the bars downtown (the Stage, Tootsies, etc...). They are a lot of fun to get real drunk at. But if thats not your thing there are other things to do. Feel free to PM me if you want more specifics.
I'm fuggin' there this year. The fact that it's so close to Thanksgiving makes it all the better. I guess I'll drive up Saturday, and hotel it that night and Sunday night -- then drive back to Athens on Monday. DO they still have that really nice Irish Pub in Downtown Nashville? I've got some great fuzzy memories of that place!
I usually do the annual road game also and this year its the Titans. Cant wait to see McCarins drop a pass or see David Harris put Mawae on his ass. I dont know anything about the city but ill be ready for some tailgating. Hope to see alot of jet fans there.
