take it from me boys.....Lowery going in the 4th round was going to be a steal for someone. It just happened to be us. I watched him for 2 seasons and he was usually the most exciting player on the field (and on defense). You just never knew when he was going to pick one and take it back for 6.... One knock on him is that he isnt fast, and when you watch him play enough, you might pick up on this. But he isnt slow by any means, and any lack of speed he has, he makes up for with his quickness, instincts, and ability to jump routes. He's incredibly smart and is all about the game, not the paycheck. You can tell Lowery is a guy who plays the game with his heart. His work ethic proves that, and Tomey has always had nothing but praise for him...
I'm not surprised at the "I got that cat" from Mangini..He went to a high school in Hartford Ct that was 90% minority student body. The boy got some hip hop in him!
Derrick Strait anyone. Great college CB. Hope I'm wrong on this one. I actually didn't mind Poteat so hopefully this kid is an upgrade.
Wasn't Mickens the same way? Study geek that could play well enough in the nickel but would get burned sometimes? Sounds like he will need help over the top if he is gonna play corner. Rhodes would have to keep an eye on him. He is definitely a route jumper.
I'm sincerely excited about this kid. I think with the right veterans around him, proper coaching and playing time, Lowery could become one of the league's premiere shutdown corners.
I still think we're going to re-sign Poteat, unless they have a player or two at CB targeted post-June 1st..
I don't think so. I was a real fan of Derrick Strait, but he got this deer-in-the-headlights syndrome. His spirit may have been broken when he was traded, then returned for the failed physical of the players he was traded for -- all in about three days. But Derrick was NEVER the player in the NFL he was at Okla. Lowery is much more of a student of the game than Derrick was. Let's see what kind of backbone he has in the Pros.
