"MY" projected lineup... Offense: WR Coles TE Baker LT D'Brick LG Faneca C Mangold RG Moore RT Woody TE/FB Keller WR Cotch QB Clemens RB Jones Defense: DE Ellis NT Jenkins DE Coleman OLB Thomas ILB Harris ILB Pace OLB Gholston CB Revis SS Rhodes FS Elam CB Miller/Lowery by season end Could see Pouha moving to end and Miller moving to FS. Just my thoughts and hopes...don't kill me
Bartons gettin up there in age i hope he can hold up the whole season Inside but with Harris it could work but we will need to get another LB to be a starter either in the draft or Free-Agency but thats moons away. LB Core looks good lets see how Gholston plays.
SLB - Gholston ILB - Pace ILB - Harris WLB - Thomas Bowens rests the OLB's and Barton rests the ILB's. I love this formation. Can you imagine an all out blitz with Thomas coming on the weak side, and Pace and Gholston coming on the QB's blind side?
Personally, DE Ellis DT Jenkins DE Coleman OLB Pace OLB Gholston ILB bomber Harris ILB Barton CB Revis CB Miller SS Rhodes FS Lowery.
unless gholston has a great camp/preseason i think thomas will hold his starting job going into the season at the least... gholston is switching positions and transitioning to the nfl...i wouldn't expect him to be starting day 1 i think he and bowens will be situational pass rushers (for passing downs)...and as the season progresses we will see gholston more and more
Has anybody thought about Gholston lining up at ILB on some downs ? That can possibly happen, especialy on passing downs.
Of course. All our LBers will be asked to play inside and out. The Pats have been doing that for years...Vrabel, Colvin, and Thomas all saw snaps inside and outside last year. Hell, Vrabel has spent whole seasons at ILB...
I don't understand all the Pace at ILB projections... Yes he CAN play there, but they aquired him SPECIFICALLY to be an OLB Pass rusher, not to clog the middle.
No point over analyzing who plays where. If the jets do anything it's rotate a RACK of guys in many different positions and formations. The key to all this is not Pace...it's Jenkins. Improve the run and occupy 2 blockers....that is the key I will take my chances with our Times Square Defense with all our pass rushers out on the field walking around the line of scrimmage while Jenkins is the only guy with his hand down hehe. I need to go into hibernation for a few months...this wait is going to be horrible.
lets all also remember that gholstons coverage skills are POOR at best. he will not come in as an every down back in my eyes. yes he will see time but it is a transition for him and he will work his way in. i also highly doubt you will see keller as a te/h back over richardson as a true fb, that is what is necessary for a standard o. i do think you will surely see keller in there but not starting or as an every down guy. i also dont believe our fo about him being a typical te, not this year at least he has much work to do in order to be a dual threat te specifically size wise and with his blocking technique. please dont expect these guys to come in and change the world or be the best player on the field from day 1, hopefully they progress through the year but i dont expect a ton out of them at the beginning of the season.
I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas, Pace, and Gholston are on the field at the same time. I believe Mangini will incorporate some wacky formations like last year to make sure we get pressure on the QB.
they are an upgrade over what was here last year, thus they will see a lot of playing time... put it this way, thier thumb will not stink like shite from sitting around with it in thier azzes all day... they are going to be on the field... A LOT
Oh man...your dead. Seriously, its pretty on...I still think you will see Pace lined up outside more. I understand the attraction with putting him inside. Bottom line..with Mangini..we can all talk about this until we are blue in the face and it really doesnt matter. There will be a play where Gholston is lined up over the center by himself.
a rookie who has not played OLB who is not good in coverage is an issue. if he can improve his skills as a olb before then yes i see him on the field alot and as an upgrade to what was there last year. however i dont see him being a full time olb at this point. i will be impressed if he takes 60% of the defensive snaps this year. keller cant block, sure he may be a better receiver than any te we had last year but as a te in the nfl you HAVE TO BLOCK, sure i hope he comes in and can do everything, however as a realist i DO NOT see this happening. if they decide to put him out there too much we will be in the game threads wondering why the olb is making all these stops in the backfield. that is something i surely dont want.
