Yeah, he was able to wear 23 because he played cornerback in 2006. I have no clue why he was able to wear 23 in 2007.
I don't think these numbers matter at all, as I'm never one to remember them anyway. Let's get them out on the field already. I can't wait for Training Camp!
cool thread, nice work. i hadnt even thought of some of those guys in years and year. hell iwas even surprised by a couple of them, i could have never told you jeff blake wore 9 and that is my favorite number!!!
Well being a numbers conversation, I think it is time for somebody on the defensive side of the ball to break in #34. I find it incredibly interesting that we have never had a DB wear #34 in a regular season game before...
i wouldn't buy a Gholston jersey he will probably be able to switch to his college #50 by next season
Yeah, I believe there's history there. If my memory serves me right, Devin Hester was originally drafted a DB, who got moved after his sensational rookie season returning kickoffs to play receiver because of his speed. Why he was able to keep his number once that move took place is beyond me and if anybody the answer to that one, I'll be more than happy to hear it.
I think once you get a number you can keep it no matter what happens. When Keyshawn was drafted, WRs hadn't worn a number from 10-19 in years, but he held out so long in camp that #19 was all he could get. I believe that was the case, I don't remember them assigning numbers right away. In his rookie mini-camps he was wearing his #3 from USC. He ended up keeping #19, and over time more guys started wearing 10-19 at WR again.
