Gholston relative to his draft position does have the highest probabilty of being the biggest bust in the draft.

Ainge I agree with, but the Keller comment is just dumb.

How is Erik Ainge as waste of a pick? We have two QBs on the roster.

He was productive in the best conference in college ball, and he has the ability to start in the NFL.

It's not like we're going to start any 5th round pick RIGHT AWAY. He will have the chance to learn the offense, and if he performs, he could be the Jets' starter down the road.

Matt Hasselbeck and Marc Bulger were all drafted after the 5th round. They've been pretty good for their teams. Both were given the chance to sit and learn before being thrown into the fire.

How do the Pats get an A-?

They make an OBVIOUS trade with the Saints- its not like the Pats had to be strategic. If Matt Millen had been sitting at 7, even he could have swung a trade with the Saints.

I guarantee the Pats would have stood pat and taken Gholston if the Jets had not. Then Jason Cole would have said the Pats have the next Shawne Merriman.

The Pats fellatio has got to stop. I love how he mentioned the Kevin O'Connell drafting but didn't throw in the rimshot like he did for Ainge (waste of a pick?). Who the hell is Wheatley by the way? All sources I have seen he is at best a nickel guy. I won't be shocked if our 4th rounder (Lowery) outperforms their second rounder (Wheatley).

Admittedly, I didn't seem much of Ainge (only about two games worth), but didn't come away all that impressed. Throw in the scouting report I read talking about lack of arm strength and a good game manager. Then add someone comparing him to Pennington.

I am under no illusion he could start right away and fully understand that he is a 5th round developmental pick. However, of all the late-round QBs, I guess I just didn't want to see the Jets pick him. Call it Pennington fatigue if you will, but I think it was a waste.

Are you guys blind? The Patriots got an A because they missed out on getting a "premier defender" and have high hopes for their other picks. Obviously, everyone else in the league is already expecting their draft picks to fail.

Erik Ainge = complete waste of a pick.

The guy is described as an excellent game manager who lacks the skills to be a starter. Why the hell would you want a guy as your 3rd QB who can't win as a starter, but can manage a game in an emergency situation?

Seriously, does Jason Cole merit anything but sarcasm in response to his comments?

I agree 100%. How does a 31-10 guy from the SEC, who gets picked in the late 5th round a waste of a pick? People have been grumbling about him being brooks bollinger- no, brooks was an option QB in a slower big 10. Ainge is a pocket passer in the fastest conference in college football. I really liked this pick... low risk, potential high reward.

who cares, it is probably coming from a guy that just look at mock drafts this past month, after a year or 2, how well we did in this draft will bare out.

I don't think Jason Cole has a clue here. First, there is a bust factor for all these first round picks. "The experts" all thought Robert Gallery was the surest thing there was. The Jets needed not just a guy with pass rush upside but a guy who could be a dominant pass rusher. Gholston was the only guy available who fit that bill.

I think Cole has to be the only guy who thinks Ainge is a "wasted pick."

Meanwhile, I'd be shocked if those Pats were A Minus next year. This is a team that cut most of their draft picks last year. Their number one was nothing more than a situational player.

Once I saw the A- for the patriots, I closed the window..the rest of the article was irrelevant.

We seem to have got our priorities wrong on draft day.
If we need a QB, (which we do) why not draft one instead of Keller, or Lowery even?
I would have also gone after a WR alot sooner that we did.

We waited until the 5th round to snag a QB, why? So we could come away from the draft and say,
'Hey we know theres a problem there, but look , we addressed it'.
NO WE DIDN'T, we added to it.

Gholston, we had to take him. BPA and if we didn't the Pats would have and it was a need. Good, job done there.

Keller, the fans (all) in radio city said it all in the space of 10 seconds, gasps and laughter. Nothing against the kid, but a TE in the 1st???? Lets see now what other holes vould we have filled there, does TE come first in any of your lists? No?, Not mine either.

Lowery, everything that I've seen or read on him suggests, ballhawk, but can't tackle. I'm out on him at the moment, good luck in TC fella.

Henry, Intrigues me. Hes a big target who doesn't look like hes moving very fast when sprinting, deceptive speed and good hands, its a need filled. Only question mark is can e step up to NFL level soon enough to be any help next season?

Garner , again filled a need and a welcome edition. Has the time to adjust to the game and get game experience.

Its taken me nearly 24 hours to calm down because I thought it was a really horrible draft. Its not the best we could have done (IMO) but its done now. Time to get behind our new recruits and show them how good it is to be a Jet.

I couldn't careless about the :gpc:, but a C seems fair to me.

    Here's the Raiders' review...

    Oakland
    Oakland Raiders
Picks: RB Darren McFadden, CB Tyvon Branch, WR Arman Shields, DE Trevor Scott and WR Chaz Schilens
    Positives: McFadden, McFadden and McFadden
    Negatives: Branch and Shields
Bottom line: A-. The McFadden pick is a great gamble, although there’s a legit concern about whether the Raiders will give him the personal help he needs to succeed. Like the Jets (Gholston) and Atlanta (Matt Ryan), the Raiders took a player with huge boom and bust potential. However, McFadden has the biggest upside of all three. In fact, he has the biggest upside of any player in the draft and he could be a huge help to second-year QB JaMarcus Russell. Branch and Shields are desperate attempts to fill needs, but should make the team.

Please tell me how that's an A-?

    Two words....Chaz Schilens

okay, i have no idea. the grades are arbitrary at best, throw-a-dart-random at worst based on his analysis.
