NO offer giants a 2nd rounder and giants wanted more. I think that if we gave them our 2nd and 4th (what we gave up for Keller) we could have had him. Question is would you want him. I think I would even though he is kind of a pain in the a$$ he has been to a pro bowl and is still fairly young. Probably better than an unknown kid who could just be a tweener WR/TE and never play.
i was surprised and didnt know what to think about the keller pick... but more and more i think about it i like it. i know all i wanted to hear was a big name like sweed, hardy, thomas, or jackson when we moved up.. but it didnt happen. but what we got is more than a reciever who will take 3 years to develop and then see what happens.. we got a playmaker who not only was valued by our staff to be the best option at reciever, but who is going to be automatically a tough player to gameplan against because of his position. hes immediately being compared to dallas clark and thats pretty high praise for a tight end. kellen to keller... gonna be killer.
Don't take this personally, but its thinking like this that makes me puke. We drafted him, hes a Jet. I like him. Kind of brain washed attitude. 2 days ago if I posted that I thought we should draft him, the same posters would have jumped all over me. Are Jets fans the most fickle in the league?
I unfortunately have not had the time to watch too much college football, nor read up too much about the prospects. BUT what I did read and research, none of it included this Keller fellow. If you had told me 12 hours ago that we would trade up to draft an undersized tight end/over sized WR, I would have been just as pissed off as I am now. Seriously? A tight end? Ok, ok, but why trade up for one???
Keller seems to be just as good of a receiving target as Shockey, and as someone else said Shockey's a dick that would be a clubhouse cancer from day one while Keller seems to be the complete opposite.
i've seen shockey drob (i meant to type 'drop' but typed 'drob', go figure) a lot of easy passes last season and he totally set eli back a few years with all his overbearing critisism and crying. plus he's already looks slower than a year or two ago. good question tho, about using 2&4 for shockey versus keller.
The only people not liking the Keller pick are the ones that didn't know anything about him before the draft. I was surprised by the pick but this kid has playmaker written all over him and will add a dynamic to the O that we have never had.
I don't think he'll be the same player after the injury and he wants MORE money. He doesn't show up for OTA's and the Giants were a better TEAM without him, they were nuts for not taking NO's #2 and a conditional next year. I think he can all see now that this draft was deeper than we thought. I don't want any part of him and he wants to play in the south.
With shotty comming from SD this is the type of weapon he would like for an offense. I kow little about Keller, but after reading several reports on him he seems like he will fill the Gates type of role for us. Faster than a linebacker and stronger than and Corner back, the mismatches should be fun to watch if he's used properly. I'm waiting to see how that goes. Our current front office has done well with moving up to get the guy they want. I just hope that trend continues.
All true. The Giants will find a way to dump Shockey. Just so long as it's far away from New York. How much would he fit in with the Fish (and the Tuna)?
I don't think he will play the classic TE position, which is why I don't think Baker will be traded. Baker will still be the starting TE and Keller can and will line up anywhere to create a mismatch. I think the closest comparison is Dallas Clark but alot faster and more athletic.
that's exactly what's got me pissed off. we fill a position we did'nt need to, and spend 2 picks to do it. thats what i think everyone is missing in all this. 2 FUCKIN' PICKS FOR A TE, PROJECTED TO GO IN THE 2ND ROUND!!!!
Could be. From watching some video's of him he is lining up in the H-back type of role alot. Catching passes when out of the back feild or split wide. By the Gates role I mean more of the underneath, seam route, Red zone guy the Jets have lacked. The Clark comparisonis more accurate of his frame/abilitys though.
