I don't think he is a product of a system, I think he's a product of weaker competition at the college level. Not all 'game-breaking players' at the college level can make it at the pro level. He's definitely not in the same conversation as AP. Is it because of his legs being skinny? I'm not sure you can just blame it in that, but look at all of the elite backs in the league and you will see that the have compact, powerful legs that help them make sudden cuts on the fly and maintain lateral movement without twisting their knee backwards under the weight of two defenders. The upper body frame of a runningback doesn't mean squat if the part that matters, the legs that they run on, can't handle the punishment. McFadden may end up finding success in the NFL, but he is definitely no Adrian Peterson.
I hope we trade out I really think McFadden is alot of hype and Gholston is just a work out wonder. I don't see why people are so sold on these two. Yes they could be good, but it's far far from a given and I doubt they are the second coming like some people seem to think. I'd rather trade down and grab more picks since we only get 6. On a side note why do we always have so few picks this year and last, but like KC has 13?!
Weaker competition? I'd say the SEC is a tougher conference than the Big-12. In fact, McFadden's level of competition in college is a big plus in my mind. He dominated the toughest conference in college ball right from the start.
How can you be all hype when you put up those numbers in the SEC Did you see what he did to the national champions. I'm not saying if he will be good or not in the nfl, but my gosh he has earned all of the talk he gets by his play on the field.
Dude...When it comes to toss'n insults & B.S......you're tops. But when it comes to football acumen....ur on the bottom. McFadden was a great college player & will be a fantastic pro (barring injury).
You can't just call him a "fantastic pro"...nothing is a sure thing when it comes to the NFL draft. I disagree with abyz's views on McFadden playing against poor talent, but he's not even close to being at the bottom when it "comes to football acumen". Aren't you the one that starter a thread asking who now will start at defensive end now that Roberston's gone? In my opinion, that places YOU at the bottom when it comes to basically anything and everything.
I never intended to imply that McFadden played against weak teams, but across the board at the college level all 'college elite players' play against inferior talent to themselves, they break tackles made mostly by guys who will never make it to the pro's. It's when they make it to the NFL that the playing field levels out and it is determined if they can also be NFL elite or busts or just run-of-the-mill starters, and it's why the first round scares so many FO's. I don't remember anybody predicting Ronnie Brown would be anything but an elite runningback, and he has been anything but. I know he has a bad O-line and coaching issues over the years, but the guy just takes the first step in the wrong direction in the backfield every time. It has nothing to do with his physical ability, it's his awareness and ability to think at pro speed. When he gets a head of steam and gets to the second level, he is vicious, but you need more than that to be elite in the NFL.
Dude...Clean ur windows, so u can have some vision. D-Rob would have played DE this season with the new NT in place. He played some DE last year. To me....with his weight, size, & mobility...He was the Jets' #1 option at DE with this present roster.
Dude...open ur mouth, so u can receive this money shot. To YOU Roberston was the Jets' #1 option at DE with the PRESENT roster. To EVERYONE else, Shaun Ellis and Kenyon Coleman are the Jets' best options with the present roster. Robertson lacks height...he's only 6'1. He has decent size...but he fits best in the 3-4. I have no idea what mobility you're talking about. This guy has only registered 14.5 sacks in his entire career. For this statement, you should be banned for being entirely too queer.
Now....I'm just picking on you.hmy: When Peterson was coming out, the knock on him was that he was injury prone. He was coming off repetitive shoulder injuries. He always had speed since H.S. McFadden is unquestionably a gamebreaker. He runs high & hard, alot like Dickerson & Marcus Allen. He played against the best of competition in the S.E.C. If he goes to a good team, with a good OL, he will be very successful....again barring injuries.
Again....give me ur address....I'll send the window cleaner...free of charge.:breakdance: Stevie Wonder will also send u a pair of his special glasses. THe queer kind that u like:rofl2:
Are you one of the people that laughs at their own jokes? Let me just give you a word of advice: People like that are fucking annoying. You have lame comebacks, you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to basically every subject, life or football, and your threads are ridiculously pointless. Do everyone at TGG this favor: Go to your closet, get a neck-tie, and hang yourself.
You leave me no choice: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=26570 when you get older you will understand.... and DRob is not any good.
