We need a thread for us Star Wars geeks. This could be a place where we can help each other with understanding some of things in the Star Wars Universe, Describe out first Star Wars movie experience, Star Wars books and characters and everything in between. One of the things I'd like to discuss is Was Obi Wan a great Jedi or a lucky (or unlucky) one? There are a lot of discussions about how he just got lucky to have had Anakin fall under him and that if he hadn't, Obi Wan would have been just an average Jedi. However he was the first Jedi in thousands of years to have killed a Sith. And the only one until Anakin chops Dooku's head off. So was he great or average? Don't forget to vote in the poll your favorite of the 6 movies.
Obi Wan was not as great as those on the Jedi Council and Yoda is by far the greatest Jedi ever. How anyone can think that any other episode besides Empire was the best is beyond me.
Return of the Jedi is the best one. The opening scene where Luke totally destroys Jabba's place is awesome. The Ewoks are one of Lucas's better fun characters and it has the ultimate showdown with The Emperor. ROTJ has always been my favorite.
Return is just a hair behind Empire for me 1. Empire 2. Return 3. A New Hope 4. Revenge 5. Attack 6. Phantom There is a small gap between the first 4 but then a huge jump from 4 to 5 & 6.
I agree with the list except I think Attack was by far the worst movie. Half of it was angry Anakin having picnics and pretending like he could act. Ugh. Return probably would've taken the top spot if not for the Ewoks.
Attack and Phantom were both pretty crappy movies but still cool in a Star Wars kind of way. Obviously the parts without Anakin in either movie were better than when he was in it.
Revenge of the Sith Return of the Jedi Empire Strikes Back A New Hope Attack of the Clones Phantom Menace
It's a shame they still tried to make the prequels "kids movies". Phantom Menace should've never been made(there's no way to fix "little Anakin" or Jar Jar) and they could've started with Attack of the Clones and followed that with the events of that Star Wars cartoon. I don't know if you've ever seen the DVD's or when it was on cartoon network but these shows were much better written then any of the prequels. It really fleshed out the characters.
yeah i ended up getting them off bittorrent after they had all been shown. all together i think it ended up being about the length of a movie, very well done.
let me watch Revenge another 100 times and then it might have a chance to overturn Empire.but that is exactly my order too. after each post you must post a quote from one of the movies.the next poster must answer who said it and in what movie before they are able to post in this thread..just a little something to spice up the Star Wars talk. "Why you stck up half witted scruffy looking nerf herder!"
The original three were all fairly well written and well directed: especially Empire written by kasdan. The 3 new ones were all catastrophically bad, because Lucas is a terrible director, and he is a subpar writer as well.
I may be alone in this, but I really really liked Episode #1. It isn't my favorite and I still prefer the original 3 over it, but I didn't think it was a bad movie. Jar Jar is the worst movie character of any movie ever and that really drains on the experience, but I really liked the character Darth Maul and thought that this movie was good. Maybe it was just the fact that it was the first Star wars in 20 years, but I enjoyed it and didn't find it all that bad. Episode 2 is by far the worst and while Revenge of the Sith got good reviews, I still only found it to be an ok movie.
empire-after luke comes out of water tank.Han congratulates Leia for getting him to stick around longer. "You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! It was you who would bring balance to The Force, not leave it in Darkness!
